Temp went up overnight... even out here.    I was up at 2 a.m. and it was 38 and I checked the observations and most places were in the upper 30s.   I could hear water coming off the roof as the snow was melting.    Very disappointing.

I didn't think it would clear out and freeze hard... but it usually does not warm up here overnight after a snowfall unless its a transition event.

How much snow did you end up with?

Power went out last night around 7:30p. Didn't come back on until about 4am. Currently 35 and cloudy, there was some rain/snow mix about 30 minutes ago. Snow level probably 2000-2500 feet. What a lot of people missed because the focus was on the front and snow chances, is that the post frontal airmass really got watered down too.

A little over 2 inches.   The ground is still covered this morning and its down to 32 now.    But its not as pretty as it was yesterday evening with all the trees covered.   You can see where the freezing line was overnight by looking at the ridge.

I figured you were getting hit hard up there yesterday.

Some of the wettest snow you’ll see accumulate to that depth. Lots of tree damage and power outages

I believe it! There was about ¼ as much as that at Lake Terrell yesterday afternoon, and tree limbs were starting to break. It was one of the things that persuaded me to end my walk and return home.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Lots of meltage overnight unfortunately. Currently 34 degrees. What a fun day yesterday! Hopefully this was just the warning shot for an epic January to come!

Hmm...... I think it was Kayla and I that told you that would happen.

Sort of... I think she said my snow would be gone by morning.    It was in between our predictions.

Looks like a much drier period coming up... which makes sense after the recent wet period.

Phil mentioned a jet extension in early January.   So another wet period and then... maybe then... the stage will be set for some real fun.   I think we are probably still a month away.

Mid-late January into early Feb wouldn't be too bad for an Arctic outbreak.

I dislike it when that happens, but it’s par for the course in marginal events like this. Would have happened here if it did not clear off. As it is, there was some compaction and melting before it cleared.

Such a difference from my teen years in the Rockies, where it would always freeze overnight in the winter months, except if there was a mild, rainy system moving through. And even on most of those, there would usually be a pause in the action and a brief clearing spell where it would touch freezing at some point overnight.
