Cold night for everyone tonight. Jim will be happy when he reads his thermometer. Sitting at 29F here; the first sub 30F reading in over a month IIRC.

In unrelated news, the GFS continues to show a sizeable SSW to occur. Given that the onset of the SSW is within a week, and that there is major ensemble support from the GEFS, CMCE, and EPS, I think it is safe to say that we will be getting one. Good news for snow fans around here starting mid January.

I hope you are right and this evolves in mid January and not mid March.

The weather station nearest to me is showing 28.2 this morning, so I'll go with that.

My wife also noted it was far too cold in our room this morning. Our townhouse has abysmal insulation.

29 here... everything is frozen hard.   The snow on the ground here should easily make it to Christmas morning now.

My extended family is all taking about the blizzard moving into MN right now in our group chat.   Its almost 50 degrees in the Twin Cities right now and they will have 8 inches of snow by this evening with 50mph winds and it will be below zero tomorrow morning.   I told them that is the same storm that came through here on Monday and it went from low 60s to snow in a couple hours.

I think we missed the boat this spring when we first thought about selling/moving out into the county.  Anything that would suite our needs is now going for $500k+ when the same would have been $380-400k back in March.  I'm sure our home value has gone up, but not on par with what's happening in the county.  I was really hoping to get our mortgage payment down so I can catch up on my retirement savings....

Well, hopefully you refinanced?

I wish...Been furloughed most of the year, and my wife's income alone is not enough for the banks to be happy.  She's made the observation that if we were to ever get divorced, she would not be able continue living here in Bellingham....she technically could, it would just be in a very sketchy part of town.

We already have a good rate on our mortgage (about 3.7% or so).  I know its down around 2.7-3% now, but its not like we are 4.5-5%+

Had that issue all the time with my data logger.  Trying to get it back online sucked.  It finally stopped after one outage so I got the weatherlink live.

Thanks for the info.  Unfortunately our internet coverage is terrible here.  I do have the WeatherLink software which does a good job of displaying current data but not good for history stats.  I’ll keep trying to get Wunderground back onboard but now I will have a big gap in my data.

Rates up here are under 2%. I have seen 0.99% advertised. Pretty crazy.

Your snow did a little better than mine. I had turned back to a very light rain/drizzle around 9pm Monday evening even thought the temp stayed at 32.5... it sounded like you stayed all snow during the night. I must have gotten warm fingered or nosed or whatever it’s called.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

34 here. Haven’t hit freezing in quite a while.

Here’s hoping the most recent event was just a warning shot for something more region-wide. It could easily pop up in the models without a whole lot of advance notice much like the most recent event did.

It's called clown range for a reason.

My wife served as a nurse in the Navy... and yes we ended up in SD because she was stationed at Balboa.    Of all the far flung places in the world that she could have been sent and we ended up in beautiful San Diego!
