Deweydog
One little overriding theme for this winter starting to emerge is the tendency for vortices to meander west from the Yukon. Can't rule it out I suppose. The sounding for PDX does snow a warm nose and surface temps 31-33 for a period of freezing rain. It was really close to an ice event/storm. With the cold pool east side perhaps that cold air ends up thicker. We've seen this many times and models do not initially handle that well.

Gradient Keeper
EURO not as cold as the GFS, WRF which isn't surprising, but it may not be 'seeing' the Gorge very well. No offense at all, but you live in Aberdeen. Nothing against Aberdeen, but really, how often does it snow there? Takes something extraordinary to have it snow there. For many of us, this run shows snow. 1 1 1

Pretty shallow cold air at the surface in PDX. As you said, it could get interesting for east metro though as far as ZR goes,
