The multi-day snow is actually pretty consistent. Of course amounts vary.

Serves you right!🥰

Those long range maps are garbage.  The scattered blue specks off in Idaho, Montana, etc.....LOL.  How do they know the exact spots where accumulation will occur.  Unless each of those blue specks is above the snow level, and all white is below??  I'm not a computer programmer or model compiler, so does someone want to explain that one to me?

And it all assumes 10:1 as if that happens much at my place. Half or more of my snows are 20:1.

Yes... its a constant battle here.    Our development is responsible for managing the forest here and we are limited to how much of our properly can be landscaped.   But they also recognize that our views are important so every year they will selectively remove trees that impact views.    We have kept the area in front of our house clear of trees and they will remove those trees for us on the other side of the road that eventually would block our view of Mt. Si.

That's good. I just thought of it because I was talking to my Dad about those trees the other day. They are so hideous and look diseased, but the neighbor will not cut them down, basically just to be a ****.

Well 40F rain and plenty of mountain snow is a lot better than 50F rain and no mountain snow.

And 2yrs ago today I first learned that our new place had some slight drainage issues that were made far worse when we cut in a trial to our neighbors in the fall which disrupted the one and only under constructed drainage line at the property line. I made that quick little tiny trench/dike to divert some of the water from the house until I could get some equipment in and do it right.

Two weeks after a SSW peaks (in the Siberian cases, only)

Replying to
Cold January for much of country

Replying to
especially western-central Canada

So doing the math, it looks like it peaks on Sunday Jan 3rd, morning our time.  Then add two weeks to get the cold pattern, so the potential time is the 3rd week of January.  Might start a few days earlier, the map he showed had the cold air two weeks after the peak SSW, but it may have start to get cold a bit sooner.  Right about MLK day weekend.

IF everything happens that way.
