Popular Post Front Ranger
Just for fun and to provide a wee bit of comfort for those fearing climate change has stolen winter forever... 5 Climate Predictions for 2020 That Didn't Pan Out 1. In 1987, James Hansen predicted that by 2020, global temperatures would rise by 3C. Instead, they've risen by .5C or less. 2. In 2006, Al Gore predicted that the snows of Kilimanjaro would disappear by 2020. They have not. 3. In 1986, the EPA predicted 2 feet of sea level rise for Florida by 2020. In reality, there has been less than 4". 4. In 2013, some predicted that Arctic sea ice would completely melt out by 2020. They were wrong by 3.9 million square miles. 5. In 2009, a government ecologist predicted that the glaciers in Glacier National Park would be gone by 2020. The park even put up signs with the prediction...which they have since removed. 8 1 1 1 1 1 Quote A forum for the end of the world.

I lived in the Rockies for most of my teen years, so got to see a day in the mid/upper 70's followed by a snowy day more than a few times. Really was freaky the first few times then one grew to expect it (and to recognize the warning signs that it was coming). Quote It's called clown range for a reason. Do you think the prolonged nature of this SSW could help the arctic lock into the PNW if it makes it down south? And does having a -NAO combined with a -PNA also help lock in the cold? I recall you mentioned a while back that the -NAO was key in keeping the arctic air locked into the PNW during the 1968/69 winter.
