lots of snow and relaxation?

It was great, thanks for asking! The next day we went snowmobiling and it was my first time doing it. It was a lot of fun!

Leavenworth, still one of the few places I have been to where it dropped 30 degrees in 3 hours and changed from 50 degree heavy rain to 20 degree heavy snow.

I lived in the Rockies for most of my teen years, so got to see a day in the mid/upper 70's followed by a snowy day more than a few times. Really was freaky the first few times then one grew to expect it (and to recognize the warning signs that it was coming).

It's called clown range for a reason.

OT, but everyone in Leavenworth city limits just got a reverse 911 call asking people to evacuate, as there is a bomb threat by the gazebo.Ā  I am about 3/4 of a mile away, so I will stay put.Ā  There is a live cam here, you can see the sheriffs and sheriffs dogs searching.

So the SSW just started and is supposed to take how long to finish off the pv? If it has really started itā€™s about time. Been talking about it for 384hrs x 2.Ā

To completely finish it off? Maybe 10-12 days?

Thereā€™s probably going to be a second poleward push by NPAC High after D10 so this could be a prolonged event.

GFS kills off the Urals High in the LR..interesting. Letā€™s see how theĀ solution changes D13-16.

Do you think the prolonged nature of this SSW could help the arctic lock into the PNW if it makes it down south?

And does having a -NAO combined with a -PNA also help lock in the cold?

I recall you mentioned a while back that the -NAO was key in keeping the arctic air locked into the PNW during the 1968/69 winter.
