First snow of the year! Melting quick but at least a little left. Was down south picking up a new family member.

Beautiful morning in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon. It was 12F when I took these pics around 8:30am. Gotta get our winter fix somehow.

Major shift on the 12z EPS to lower heights over the West with rising heights in the SE compared to the 00z last night. Looking like a really fun mid month on through the Holidays. Perfect timing IMO!

Looks great for the whole West Coast. And not as wet way up north where they do not need it as much.

Yup really good Nina runs tonight. It also looks like around the 30th to New Year's Day it is going to turn real interesting for the Gorge and maybe PDX.

Can't rule it out I suppose. The sounding for PDX does snow a warm nose and surface temps 31-33 for a period of freezing rain. It was really close to an ice event/storm. With the cold pool east side perhaps that cold air ends up thicker. We've seen this many times and models do not initially handle that well.

Yeah, too bad that warn nose is way too deep for snow. Pretty shallow cold air at the surface in PDX. As you said, it could get interesting for east metro though as far as ZR goes,

No offense at all, but you live in Aberdeen.  Nothing against Aberdeen, but really, how often does it snow there?   Takes something extraordinary to have it snow there.  For many of us, this run shows snow.

I don't live in Aberdeen.  Where I live does pretty well most winters, 15 to 20 inches of total snowfall, the last few.  Nothing close to that is looking likely this winter.  Oh, and no offense taken.

I’ve always wondered, what’s your elevation?

Thanks for clarifying.  I do sincerely hope that you get some serious snow this year.  Be patient, good chance it is coming.

Just finished setting up the production.  Both the kids are well past the Santa days but the ridiculousness lives on, as it should.🥰🥰

Absolute epic strat warming being shown on the ECMWF tonight.  Could be one of the biggest ever so early in the winter.  Between that and a possible MJO wave emerging there should be some changes coming.

Merry Christmas evryone!

Especially this year.  In our neighborhood there are more lights than I've ever seen.

Same thing happened here before midnight.  That really makes it suck.  Oh well we have another mini cold snap coming soon.

Currently 37 as the moisture bubbles up from the south. Gonna be some cold rain this Christmas morning. Sitting at 8.77" for the month so should easily surpass 9" today as well. Second month with near-normal precipitation in a row.

21.48" on the water year so far.

It'll start as rain here as well, 39-40 right now.

Very healthy amount of moisture though.

43 and cloudy here with an east wind... I even see some 50s on the temp map.    Guessing there will not be any snow out here today unless we have some serious wet bulb cooling.
