That was late on the 22nd actually.

What I would give for another 97-98 Super Nino right now!

I think it started around 11 but the bulk of it fell after midnight, if memory serves.  I remember doing donuts in the mall parking lot.

But yeah, that winter was quite the dark horse.  Made the most of very little.  Even the week before the big event we had a very cold trough with snow levels down to 500’ or so.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

We went through there for the first time last summer, to and from Steens Mountain. Even spent a night in town on the way home. Walked the neighborhoods on a cool mid-July night (temps in the 50s) and the views of the milky way were stunning. Some nice older homes too, tree lined streets.

I've been told by older relatives you used to be able to see the milky way on clear nights in Portland, pre-1960ish.

Steens Mountain is such a magical place. Burns does have some nice neighborhoods. I really appreciate some of those desolate Eastern Oregon towns. Lakeview, Dayville, John Day, Prairie City. We can see the milky way out here.

I had my mom send me some of her photos from Dec. 2008.

We lived out in the Monroe foothills north of Sultan. 550' feet or so, PCSZ, inland...we were prone to some epic snow.

The igloo in the backyard lasted until early February I believe.

The picture with my dad clearing off the car was the morning of the 26th. I was heading to the airport to fly down to California to see a friend. If my memory serves, it snowed basically non-stop from Christmas Eve around 5pm until Christmas day around 2pm. The car only halfway in that frame had been cleared off on the 23rd as my dad took it in to work that day, so all that snow on it is fresh. The Armada hadn't moved in who knows how long, but it took some work to clean it off.

The rest of the pictures, I am unsure of the actual dates they were taken.

Not to worried yet. Come mid to late January might be time for a weenie moment tho.

For the past 15 winters in Seattle:

6/15 winters in Seattle have had less than inch of snow

11/15 have had 4 inches or less.

Even with this, Seattle average over the last 15 years is 5.8 inches. Take out 2008 and 2019, that brings out Seattle total to 3.8 inches.

Let’s hope the zoom boomers never find them.

Clark County had a very localized 2-3" dump right before Christmas in 1997. It was mostly gone the next morning, but it was a nice harbinger of what was to come. That was probably the luckiest winter I can remember around here, I had about 17" in Salmon Creek which was about the same amount as Spokane got.

I was trying to dig back in my memory and couldn’t pull it up. Then I realized we stayed in Welches the week before Christmas that year. I do remember it was snowy up there. And that I got some cool Legos.

I think my current location has reached double digits six times this century (03-04, 08-09, 11-12, 13-14, 16-17, 17-18). And 2008-09 blows away its next closest competition by about 15".

12Z EPS looks similar to the ECMWF through day 10... but looks pretty good after that.

No offense, but that looks like crap. Persistent Greenland block/positive anomalies. No sign of anything good for us. I know how it is to grasp at straws, and it's a bad sign when we're doing this now.

Thought it sounded more like a Dewey post personally.

I recall waking up to snow cover on many occasions over the last 25 years.  As recently as about nine months ago, in fact.  It was a nice little gift after learning of the school closures the day before.🥰

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

I saved these NWS post in Jan 2017. We picked up almost 100" of wet snow in 4 days. Fire department drove around telling everyone to shovel their roofs as collapses started happening around town

You win!

Now I need you guys to hurry up and tell me that your going to be getting the good's shortly. If your getting hammered that almost always means the Jet is to the south and over my house. Other than a really good lake effect snow band in early Nov this winter has been super lame.

We might eke out a sub 40 day today in Tacoma. 39/31 spread so far. Not PNW weather related but we’ve been getting strong north winds here in central texas associated with cold air dumping into the Midwest. Got a wind advisory here...supposed to be much cooler tomorrow after getting into the mid 70s today.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the same system that crashed our temps and brought snow here on Monday is bringing blizzard-like conditions to the Midwest?

Yea it is. Tim posted photos from Minnesota earlier
