I remember a week ago saying that the SSW was forecast at 15 days out and it wasn’t moving up in timing. As of today it still looks to be 2 weeks out. It’s not moving up in timing. Mock me, tell me I’m wrong, but in another week it’s still gonna be 384 hrs out.

Did you get this info on your conference call?

Pouring rain and 37F. Kiddos should hopefully be able to use the trampoline by Sunday. My son asked me what a white Christmas was...

At least it has been a little bit better of a fallspring than last year.

The Dec 29-30 snow got way tapered down on today's euro but shows from Jan 2-4 about 10" happening here.

That would be my snowiest start to a year since 2017. Actually, I haven't had very many snowy starts to a year to begin with, kinda like late January.

Last night's run showed 8-9" on my birthday (12/30) and a lot less in first week of the new year.

No.  It's less than a week out now.  The ECMWF is really touting it.

EDIT:  Just looked at the 12z ECMWF and the SSW being shown is even more epic than the 0z.  Not sure where this bad info is coming from.

They will love the trampoline!  My grandson doesn’t care if it cold and wet out.  He still goes out and jumps away barefoot.

Merry Xmas y’all. 🎄

12z GFS is the perfect holiday gift. Nice shift towards the EPS solution in the stratosphere re: amplitude of wave-1. GFS still wants to propagate the anticyclone in Canada while the EPS has the Eurasian solution (which is more interesting imo) but at least there’s decent agreement on a legit SSW event now.

Merry Christmas. 🌲

When should we start to see the effects of the SSW show up on the models? While its occurring or after it completes?

Reminds me of the Xmas I asked for Transformers (SSW) and instead got a bunch of Gobots (Aleutian Low).

Gobots is all I got...And I believe that winter was snowless. 😞

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

You got confused because Phil showed an hour 384 map.  That map did not show the beginning of the SSW event, it showed it at maturity.  These events don't happen in a day.  Phil pointed out that the event was starting days before that on a map.

Some of the models show it starting in about a week.

Okay. You’re wrong. Here’s day 10. Vortex is pretty much done

Actually it starts in about four days, but the question is whether it will evolve into a complete destruction or just some deep bruising.
