I am angry about the temperatures you guys keep your houses at. 😤

Not angry at all... just fascinating.   I have never been inside a house anywhere in my life with a temperature purposely in the low 50s.

Now... have someone say they are looking forward to a little sun and you have a good reason to get spitting angry and flood the forum with sarcastic-laden posts.  😀

Usually keep my heat around 75 inside.

In this climate, saving a few dollars could get you downright sick. Especially with this flu season you don't want to be lowering your immune system.

I don't think having a slightly lower temperature inside would do anything to harm your immune system.

And it's Covid that is the problem this year, not the flu.

Anyway, going to have my indoor temperature preference reveal party later this afternoon guys. Stay tuned!

True points there. I just think bouncing back from sickness could take longer if your home environment is making you really cold.

My wife's parents live in Minnesota and they have a furnace in their house but they never use it... they heat the house with wood-burning stoves and its usually uncomfortably warm in there.   Like 80+ degrees.

Wow I couldn’t imagine that. Growing up, I thought it was normal to wear coats inside during winter....🥶🥶🥶... If I have friends and family come over now, I  turn it up to 68 so they are comfortable.

Over 6" now in parts of the Tulsa metro area. Best snow event there since February 2011.

Yeah... too warm can be just as miserable as too cold.   We will even try to crack some windows when we are there just to cool off.   And my father-in-law will get so angry!

Actually... keeping your home too cold can be bad for your health.   Don't listen to Jesse... he gets really angry if anyone ever says anything bad about cold.   He is still coming to grips that the onset of winter means viruses spread much more easily.   😀

https://www.cse.org.uk/advice/advice-and-support/heat-and-health

Cold homes are bad for health. If you’re struggling to pay your heating bills and your home is cold and damp, your health may suffer.  Problems and diseases linked to the cold range from blood pressure increases and common colds, to heart attacks and pneumonia.

Below 13C° (55F) - If your home is this cold, it may increase your blood pressure and risk of cardiovascular disease.

14-15C° - If your home is this cold, you may be diminishing your resistance to respiratory diseases.

This is a site from England... but you can convert C to F and keeping your house below 13C (55F) is not good at all.

One of the times I visited my brother in Dec 2015 (Wilsonville), I remember him turning off his thermostat so it wouldn't go on. I'm pretty sure indoor temp hit low-50's range. Within a couple of days it started to induce feverishness, and taking hot showers did nothing to help. I told him, hey I'm only here for a little while just turn it on will ya?

I mean when I first got there in early December, that was totally perfect weather. But late December going into first week of January, I don't think he quite processed how cold that was compared to normal.

Oh also he lives in an apartment. Not a house.

Good to know! I have a couple heart defects and I tend to get sick often in winter. Might have to turn on the heat a couple degrees now!

In my apartment we've reached a fair compromise where my girlfriend gets to keep the living room how she likes it with sand poured all over the floor and an above ground pool with the temperature at 92.3 but in my office I'm allowed to use an artificial snow machine and several garage style meat freezers where I leave the doors open along with a series of high powered oscillating fans.

Tim can tell me this is bad for my health all he wants but I haven't been sick in days.

Nice!

Just looking at trying to compare the EPS to the last ECMWF weeklies, using PNA as a comparison.  The 0Z is not out yet, but probably similar.

A few observations.  Both have the PNA going up and down between the 14th and 25th, then down.  Up a bit around the 14th, down a bit around the 16th, up around the 18th, down about the 21st.  Then  up heading toward Christmas, and then down after that.  Current models go to just about the 26th or so, and of course the Weeklies go way past that.  But my point is that, what we are seeing with the EPS is pretty consistent with what we saw out of the weeklies a few days ago.  I think that is a good thing.

The 12Z EPS PNA forecast continues to be consistent run to run and with the weeklies last week.  Bit higher +PNA this run around Christmas, though you do see it dropping at the end of the run.

I would go colder but I’m afraid if it gets a few degrees lower I will just drop dead from cardiac arrest/pneumonia. Also the slower air molecules make it easier for Covid to move around.

Too funny... Jesse seems to be really anxious again because of the unavoidable reality that cold weather increases illness in humans.

Don't worry... hot weather is also bad for humans.
