As a result of yesterday's snowfall, my expectations that ORD would reach the seasonal norm for snowfall at ORD came into fruition.  The 3.2" that fell yesterday brought the season total up to 36.7"!  Thus far, this has been a phenomenal stretch of winter for Chicago and it appears we still have a lot more to go.  ORD is 11.7" above normal for the season and 6.7" above normal for the month to date.  Could we crack 50" this season???  If all works out just right, we may be able to do so by weeks end...I can't believe I'm even saying such a thing given how sad this season started.

Exactly what I have so far, so you already caught up. Congrats!

KLNK sitting at 47.8", though Friday's 3.4" is questionable lol. Either way, we're on the doorstep of 50". Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it's close to our final total or even is the final total. Not to be a downer bc it's been a great year, but there tends to be a sharp relaxation in the pattern after times like this.

edit: oops my brain can't math, thats 47.6"

19.0" otg attm and more coming tomorrow. Very impressive and also running above normal snowfall for the season and February itself. Great turn-around!

That's funny cuz this shows your area as the lowest in the Detroit metro region and nowhere near that depth.

Time to look at where we are in the snow fall department for this winter season. At Grand Rapids February is now at 27.0” for the season 42.2” that is a departure of -17.3” There is officially 13” on the ground here at my house I have 14” on the ground.  At Muskegon February 14.3” for the season 37.0” a departure of -38.8” with 15” on the ground. At Lansing for February 19.7” for the season 40.4” a departure of +2.5” with 16” on the ground. At Detroit for February 18.7” for the season 38.2” that is a departure of +8.3” with 14” on the ground. At Flint February 23.6” for the season 42.3” that is a departure of +7.7” with 14” on the ground. At Saginaw February 13.1” for the season just 26.9” that is a departure of -3.0” and they have 8” on the ground. Alpena has had 12.3” in February and for the season so far 46.2” that is a departure of -13.2” and there is 9” on the ground. At Houghton Lake they have had just 8.4” in February and 40.3” a departure of 9.6” for the season and there is 15” on the ground there. At the Sault they have had 17.6” in February and for the season 67.9” that is a departure of -26.1” and they have 19” on the ground. And at Marquette they have had 10.2” in February and for the season they have had 85.5” and that is a departure of -52.6” and they have 18” on the ground. So while it has been a snowy February I southern lower Michigan that has not been the case so much up north and only SE Michigan has locations that are above average in the snow fall department as of this date.

I’m in northern St Clair county and I just measured between 12”-13” on the ground in  a full sun area with no drifting. I’ll check a different area in the front yard that doesn’t get sun and see what that depth is this afternoon. I’m about 20 miles north east of Niko so can’t speak for his area.

Im real busy today, but real quick...b4 the big storm, i had 9.2" otg + 9.8" = 19.0!! Hope this answers your question!

Whoever drew this map is off on Detroit totals. As of today, the city of Detroit is at 1 foot or more otg. I need to call them up and tell them to get their facts straight.

Measured up front in the shade and found about the same amount 12-13 inches on the flat no drifting area. Definitely a deep snow pack in SE MI right now. Hopefully we’ll have a slow melt off but something tells me that won’t be the case unfortunately. I really hope I’m wrong though. My sump pumps, yes 2, haven’t kicked on in months, probably since late April early May but I have a feeling that will change in the next month.

You can’t really trust that map for a few metro areas. There’s a lollipop of almost no snow in Ottumwa, Iowa, another one in central Wi, eastern Mn, etc.

Picked up a couple inches here yesterday evening and overnight. Measured 13” - 14” in my normal protected from the wind spot on the flat. I live 10 miles north west of Richmond so that 19” report would “roughly” be 5 miles from me. Is it possible there’s 5” more snow on the ground 5 miles from my house, maybe. I will say I was in Armada 10 times this week which is about 6 miles north west of Richmond and the snow looks about the same everywhere I’ve been this week at about 12”-14”. No matter what we can all agree there is a really deep snow pack right now in South east MI!

Its beautiful out there and tbh, I might need to go and buy a yardstick because my ruler is not long enough to measure this much snow. I might go later today and get one. I tried walking in mby this morning, just to see how deep it is and I was in more than knee deep, easily over 17". If I had to guess, I would say somewhere between 18-23" snowdepth. Who would have known so much snow would fall this Winter.

Yes, 100% true.

I live in town and prior to the storm sunny side of streets (north) had about 4" while the south sides were 6-7". Also open fields around town were down to 3-4" as well due to drifting etc. Storm dropped 10" but it was 20:1 and has settled quite a bit already. So post storm we had 14-17" for a day or so before it began to settle. Going to say we range 11-14" attm which is still a great ❄ pack for this region. Remember we were missed in every direction prior to 1/31. What's odd is anywhere the high-ratio stuff was plowed or piled seems to be "settle resistant" leading to the impression of an even deeper base. Not sure what produces that phenomenon tbh

Those maps have been incorrect  for my property  all winter. I do live in a wooded area and slopes slightly  north. But  since feb 5th have had 17 to 21 inches non stop.  Just measured now.  17.5 and about  0.5 snow and sleet today

It’s in the range for my area, but those maps have to much range within the higher amounts.

That small blob of medium blue of up to 20” looks to be near Ottumwa, or no?

Up to 51.8" here.  Yesterday's system pushed me over the 2018-19 total.  50+" twice in three years is pretty good.

^^ yeah - "winter" came on hard and early up there. Buddies of mine took BWCAW trips in mid OCT only to have to bust ice on the way out. Crazy early freeze up and snow but that didn't lead to the type of winter I think many were expecting up there.

High temps early November were 50s, 60s, and even a few 70s up here.  Any snow/ice from October was long gone after that.

I mildly disagree. Yes temps got warm early NoV for about one week, but the damage was done. Sun angle and length of solar made that not a big deal. My point is the snow/ice from OCT was not long gone--- it made it's impact. Imagine how warm it would have been without all that snow around. That ice on BWCAW lakes- never left. Maybe LOTW , but further E.

49.4" in Lincoln. 3rd snowiest January, 5th snowiest Feb, and 6th snowiest season on record so far. Hard to find anything to complain about here. I think it's likely we get 50"+ for the season, but probably not beating 2018-19.

Even last year/season with 52” was snowier here, but winter isn’t over I guess. I didn’t quite hit 50” in ‘13 - ‘14.

Totals for Nebraska in 13-14:

Lincoln: 18.2"

Omaha: 17.8"

Grand Island: 16.4"

KC treatment for Nebraska that year ha. Or did KC get the Nebraska treatment this year? Hmmm

Im color blind so its tough to decipher.    I have 2 properties, one  6 miles wsw of Ottumwa  and another on the NE edge of city limits.   Both  have hovered around  20 inches much of Feb.  Both are  not  open areas and   have had little drifting.
