Thats probably the most crazy thing about this winter is not only the lack of system snow, but the non existence of the lake for the most part. Out of that 67", 10" fell in October as well. Just crazy!

Just crazy! My office went down in flames on both accounts. This sure didn't act like a Nina around here. But as I posted before, a Modoki Nina is not nearly as favorable as the traditional version. westMJim 1863
With no snow in todays forecast and yesterdays official 1” of new snow at GRR that brings this February’s total snow fall to 30.6” and guess what that will make this February the 6 snowiest February at Grand Rapids. For the meteorological winter Grand Rapids will end up with just 45.4” that is about a foot below “average” and for the season so far Grand Rapids is at 45.8” and that is over a foot and a half of where GR should be going into March.

Those are a whole other beast vs a classical. This winter had both years in it pretty well pronounced, but traditional Nina, notsomuch, thankfully. There'd be major drought risks if we were advancing a Nina, and I still am not taking those off the table for Texas and points southwest and then just east of the central Rockies (interior plains). These places are ripe for a drought, so we'll see how it plays out.

westMJim 1863
It is now mid March and there has not been much snow fall across Michigan this month. Here is where several locations now stand for March and the season. At Grand Rapids for March just a trace of snow fall and for the season 45.8” that is now -24.3” the mean temperature for March so far is 37.3 that is +4.6. Here are the snow fall totals for some other locations around the state. Muskegon March 0.1” season 41.7” departure of -46.4” At Lansing March T for the season 45.4” a departure of +5.1” To the east Detroit March T for the season 41.3” a departure of +3.2” Flint March 0.1” the season 48.5” +6.0” Saginaw March T for the season 31.9” a departure of -5.4” In northern Michigan here is where they stand. https://www.weather.gov/apx/snow and at Marquette for March 0.3” the season 97.3” a departure of -74.4” There is still snow reported on the ground in parts of the UP and I am sure there is still some snow in the woods in parts of northern Michigan as well. But, most of Michigan is well below average in the snow fall department so far this season with about a month to go in the snow fall season.
