But i was saying that based on nws changed description on snowfall accumulations for christmas day from 4 inches to 1 for whatever reason. When are the heaviest bands supposedly coming through? Not sure. Originally it was tonight. As posted above, not sure if the system to our east helps or hurts. It may push the better lake bands west of Kzoo in the end. Just have to wait and see on this one. In a good winter, everything goes well. Then there's the opposite ofc where nothing works out. So far, that's the kind of season it has been to this point. jaster220
Quite the plume and possible meso-low in S. Lake Michigan attm. Should be a fun Christmas morning over that way. Tom
I've had some intermittent snow shower activity all day yesterday which brought down the visibility in spots that made it look sorta festive. Didn't last long but it reminded me that it does snow in Chicago....actually, ORD picked up 0.2" officially bring the season snowfall total to just under an inch at 0.9"! So far picked up 2.2" and counting. Cant believe the hvy stuff is just a few miles east of me, but I am definitely not complaining. This is perfect and also great timing for a "White Christmas." So far for the month of December, snowfall has been AN. "Tis The Season." Btw: Nothing better than to have very cold air in place during a snowevent (such as today w temps in the upper teens attm) because everything sticks and snow that is falling does not go to waste, rather accumulates instantly on pavement. - Also, I have notice Chicago has been doing very poorly w snow so far, "I think." I hope you can start scoring soon. What is your snow status as of lately? 3 2 Quote Snowfall for Winter 2023 -24 for Metro Detroit Area Oct 2023: 0.2" AN Nov 2023: 2.2" AN Dec 2023: 0.5" BN Insane! whatitdo
Got 2.5 inches here in kzoo. Was wonderful. Went out and caught a heavy lake effect band - first ever! Despite low totals so far, really couldn’t have asked for a better holiday season. 4
