Guest happ
2014 has produced 9 days of 100+ temperatures at my location. Data going back 5 years shows only 2012 had more [10 days]. Guest happ
Wow, those are some impressive stats. Any 100° readings in your area? Yesterday was the 10th day this year at my house. Hopefully the last triple-digit day.
Alan
I've only been here 8 years and my record high temp is 92 from last summer, before that was 88. This year the hottest was 86 but with more days ~80 and much higher minimum temps we had a warmer average summer temp.

Visibility has been 70+ miles this weekend but there is some stratus over Santa Monica bay so the view will be a little impaired. Mt Wilson is 5712' but I noticed the temps yesterday were 86/ 63. I'm hoping today will be cooler.
Alan
Happ - on my way to dropping my daughter off to school I get a panoramic view of the valleys and the past few days or more has been pristine viewing! Notably this morning. A good benchmark I use to see how deep the marine layer is by how much the twin peaks of saddleback in the Santa ana mountains are covered. Guest happ
I pulled up additional temperature data going back from 1990 to 2009. Every year recorded triple digit maximums though only one day in 2001 and 2005. There were thirteen 100°+ days in 1990 & 1998 and 10 days in 1995. Most years averaged between 4 and 8 days. Warmest day over the past 25 years was 112° [June 26, 1990]; most year's warmest maximums were between 104-108. Earliest 100°days occurred in April in 2004 & 2009; most 100° maximums were between late July and October. November 2, 1997 was 100° Statistically the last 100° reading should be over by mid October so hopefully we will not experience any more intense heat this year. These readings were taken in 2 locations about a block apart at around 900' elevation in the foothills of northeast metro Los Angeles approximately 15-20 miles from the ocean. Black Hole
I will count my number to compare, but I know my peak was 105 for a max temp. I would guess probably about 7 days above 100 this year here.
