New Year’s Hard Cutter

Out west, OKC broke its daily snowfall record for Jan 1. I think I received 3 inches of rain. Zero ice, thankfully. The ice line literally was only held up by my plateau by 1 degree. It literally made it to the northern half of my county before the dry slot cleared out. It's tricky forecasting here because of the elevation.

Not surprising, especially if it's not expected to hit GR proper. The southern row of counties would be better served by IWX to be honest the way GR ignores them. Last November for example, Jackson county got 8-14" in the Vet's Day storm and never got a Warning. Inexcusable imo

Radar says I should see at least brief flakes flying before the "pinks" get up here. Any ground reports of that snow falling or is it all virga snow?

After NO measurable snow in Nov or Dec, I have picked up 3.25" (so far) on Jan 1. It started around 5:30 AM briefly as sleet and quickly changed to snow. Still snowing so maybe pick up a bit more before it's over.  @Clinton I see you've had a few ice problems. Hope nothing too serious.

Congrats on the snow. We have over a half inch of ice and no power still. Getting moderate snow now and it's accumulating fast. We were prepared so we are making the best if it.

It's snowing a bit in Iowa City.  The snow may get far enough nw to lay down a dusting here.

About an inch on the ground. Temp hovering around 26-27 but it’s a wet snow falling.

U of I cam shows continued mod to heavy snow.  Spotter report near IC says 1.5".  Here in CR, not a flake.  CR finally gets missed for once.
