49/41 today. Currently running +2.9 on the month. Even if we finish the month really cold we’re still likely to finish above average...but atleast it probably won’t be too much of a torch.

Tacoma WA elevation 300’

Monthly rainfall-3.56”

Warm season rainfall-11.14”

Max temp-88

+80 highs-2

+85 highs-2

+90 highs-0

Really liking the long range trends. Might not bring snow down to sea level if these maps verify. However it should be good enough to get some snow up on orcas island at the higher elevations. Looking like I’ll be heading up there the last week of January if the models keep looking good.

Perfect day to do some outdoor maintenance at the family lake house. Had a high of 49. The water level is quite high! Hopefully it will be frozen over in a few weeks.

Currently 47.

18z GEFS Day 8-16. Not horrible, but not cold either. We're just not quite there yet. Looking at the 850s for Yakima shows decent shot of chilly air does sneak back into Eastern Washington/Columbia Basin. I know it's redundant, but IF the block did A, B, and C we would be golden. At least we have a Gulf of Alaska/NPAC block though. Onto 00z. C'MON!!!!

Had some snow one year ago today.

I set an alarm for 4am that morning and woke up just in time to see the first flakes start falling. I got 0.5" that morning and then 2 days later got almost 6" in about 5 hours from a CZ.

Anniversary day of the Jan 10 2017 Portland surprise. Thundersnow and heavy snow rates. Spent most of the night pushing stuck cars out of Market St. in Goose Hollow and climbing up to give out hot drinks and offer our apartment restroom to people stuck on US 26 (my buddy was even on TV doing this). Let's do it again!

Snowed a whole lot 4 years ago today!

I for one like seeing snow pictures here. Especially when it's in the context of a discussion or is the anniversary of it like that

I remember being hecka jealous about Portland getting absolutely slammed...but February 2019 definitely made up for that. Nature always evens things out at one point or another. Hopefully this winter everyone can score big at some point.

January 2017, when I received about 7" of snow and my parents had 11".

Here's a gallery from that evening plus the next week of sunshine, fog and a full moon.  About as memorable of a snow event as you can get.  It's not often we get the rare double feature of snow on the ground (and trees) and sunshine at the same time.

Not to further this runway OT conversation about snow, but my wife announced today that she really wants it to snow.  She is at best ambivalent about it after Christmas.  This is a first.  I’m not sure what to make of it.

By the way. The extended GEFS that just came out is pretty incredible. Very strong signal for below normal heights over the west coast through 00z 2/14. Much stronger anomalies than the previous run. Incredible to see! Very encouraging!
