Vacant lot? 😬

There is a building with random businesses inside.  Been that way for years, I guess it could be called a "mall" but definitely not in a traditional sense.  It was a really cool mall when I was a kid even for how small it is.

A HWWarning would be awesome before the pattern change.

I love strong winds, but it's easy to understand why many don't. Extreme windstorms, while riveting and fun, are also widely damaging.

Here we go... Already much more amplified than the 00z and a Kona low has developed. Heights rapidly rising...

The meteorological gymnastics the Pacific is performing to make this block are just incredible--this is a sounding near 160W at the latitude of Portland. There is midlevel convection associated with a tropical sounding above 850mb... Essentially, the tropics are being advected north by around 1500 miles.

Blocking, while insanely amplified, was tilted in the literal wrong direction, so that the cold air was never able to be forced south of the border. But man did it get close to something special. The "new" GFS seems to have a more favorable tilt to a similarly amplified block...

GFS might actually be reorganizing that block. If it were to send that Canadian air south then...... I'm not naming a year, but 1989.

It was a good one apparently down here. I wasn't born yet but this matched the likes of Dec 2013 here. 6 days in a row of below zero lows, is not something we see a lot. 9 highs below freezing.

What's crazy is the highs in the low 50s and the lows in the low 20s. How often does that happen?
