The lack of discussion over the potential wind event tonight is pretty funny. Sure, it has been mentioned, but everyone argues over 14+ day models, yet there is a potential event developing right now.

Maybe it is because no one seems to know what to do with it, local Mets seem a bit perplexed, but it just seems we are always looking at next month when there is a possible noteworthy event on our doorstep.

This is quite common as I have witnessed it many times.  Even if it’s pouring down snow outside they are still discussing 3 weeks out of a possible snow event.  They are focused!  Let them be

For me picked up gas for my generators as I never trust NW weather!  Been around long enough to know things happen!
I’m still on page 85 so by the time I catch up the event might be over!
Cheers to wind now that I have extra gas :)

Wind really cranking up here in the last 15 minutes or so.  Unfortunately the direction it is coming from somewhat shelters my weather station, but we can hear it roaring through the trees.

Wind is already gusting slightly stronger here than the NWS forecast indicated. Starting to get gusts around 30 mph.

Interested to see how high the King tide ends up tomorrow here in Tacoma with all the heavy rainfall and snow melt added into the mix. Already at 1.67” on the day and it’s pouring out there...probably will be for awhile too radar shows lots of rain coming.

Wanted so bad to be at Westport this morning.  Didn’t work out and ended up in PDX for the day.  Looked crazy down there at Westport watching the camera.  Kelly’s Marina  ( just north of Rockaway Oregon coast) posted a few pics on FB of the tide swamping his area.  On my drive back I was met by the heavy rain in the south Sound.  Fun day none the less.  Will look up my rainfall in a bit.

Tim called me, he's mad you beat him to this. ;)

I warned Tim the early 2020s would conflict with his weather preferences.

Wonder if the NWS or any local mets are gonna say anything about this possible wind event-- even the possibility of gusts to 50 with all this waterlogged soil is noteworthy.

This warm of an atmosphere will help aid in mixing too.

Helps to have pressure rises to aid vertical transfer of momentum. All the big wind events here feature sharp pressure rises.

Hmm, nothing for PDX yet. Sure they'll fix that soon.

Josh wants back in for the winter only. He promised me as a family member to behave. The ok take responsibility. Fred?

This would definitely be a wildcard. Might be what we need to save winter, or completely destroy it all together.
