Skagit Weather
This is wild! Just had a gust to 42 mph which is the second strongest gust I've recorded in 12 years! Sustained at 27 mph which is by far the fastest sustained I've ever had. First time I've gotten the "Hold onto you hat" warning from my Davis weather station. Probably seen more than a dozen flashes from transformers and watched the temperature drop 10 degrees in about 10 minutes. 2 Quote Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)

Skagit Weather
The current winners in the wind department seem to be Ferndale and Sandy Point which have recorded gusts above 70 mph. This map will probably change with the 2 a.m. update, but this is what the North Sound looks like so far. Without the measuring delay (and if my station was a bit higher) I would have recorded some gusts about 50 mph. 1 Quote Home Wx Station Stats (Since January 2008): Max Temp: 96.3F (2009) Min Temp: 2.0F (2008) Max Wind Gust: 45 mph (2018, 2021) Wettest Day: 2.34 (11/4/22) Avg Yearly Precip: 37" 10yr Avg Snow: 8.0" Snowfall Totals '08-09: 30" | '09-10: 0.5" | '10-11: 21" | '11-12: 9.5" | '12-13: 0.2" | '13-14: 6.2" | '14-15: 0.0" | '15-16: 0.25"| '16-17: 8.0" | '17-18: 0.9"| '18-19: 11.5" | '19-20: 11" | '20-21: 10.5" | '21-22: 21.75" | '22-23: 10.0" 2023-24: 7.0" (1/17: 3", 1/18: 1.5", 2/26: 0.5", 3/4: 2.0", Flakes: 1/11, 1/16)

Gradient Keeper
Very strong winds easily strongest since the big December 11, 2014 wind storm. Wow! I was outside and almost got struck by a limb from my fir tree as it flew over my house. It was real intense. I noticed this occurred with a westerly wind surge and not the gusty south winds we had been experiencing all evening ahead of the cold front. I also noticed with that surge of winds the gusts were very abrupt from literally 15mph to 50-60mph within seconds. Judging by the amount of power flashes I witnessed to my east and southeast I think Sandy, Boring, Estacada, Rhododendron, Welches, Zigzag have been hit really hard. I heard many transformers blowing too. That was a fun, quick hitter wind storm! Dang! 2

Gradient Keeper
Check out these insane pressure rises. PDX-DLS and PDX-PDT gradient. PDX-DLS a 5mb pressure change in 1 hour. PDX-PDT even crazier nearly 7mb! Pressure tanking at Pendleton and rising at hypersonic speed at Portland. I am concerned for a big damaging wind storm for the Central Gorge to Columbia Basin! This certainly explains the westerly wind surge that caused all the damage and power outages in the area. 1
TigerWoodsLibido
Looks like the wind is dying down as we are down to 16mph sustained and still haven't had a gust of 45+ in as long as I can remember. Most significant recent weather memory for me remains the Labor Day firestorm. Absolutely nothing of significance has happened since. We had our coldest temp so far back in October lol. smerfylicious
Puget Sound Energy reporting 315k without power. Seattle City Light is at 70k. SnoPUD is at 55k. So just 440k homes without power in the area. Probably the most widespread outage in a few years.
