Power, cell service, and internet all restored here... and its a beautiful day.  Sunny and 50 degrees.

Still no power at home, work has power back however. Cell service even at work is still really bad, tower must still be down.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

PSE confirmed the issue in North Bend was related to transmission lines to our west.   That is why there was almost signs of damage here.   The wind was not that bad in this area.

Here’s January 2008 pattern progression.

Couldn’t be more different over the Arctic. Stable TPV/+NAM trend as the month progressed, keeping cold bottled up. Basically useless as an analog if we’re extrapolating from here.

Agreed. Way too much emphasis sometimes on individual analogs.

To my not so trained eye that appears to be quite favorable for the duration. Lots of conflicting reports on the forum today.

52 degree outflow winds at Troutdale. Not bad for January 14th...

Just turned on the A/C in my office at work. The in-floor radiant heat thinks the negative PNA has already hit!

18z running. Let's hope for two feet of coagulated blood. Or snow. Either one works.

Doesn't look likely that we see an airmass colder than the day I posted above.

Most of these model runs I'm seeing really don't build a ton of cold air overall, either. Any comparisons to 1989 or 1969 look fairly ridiculous by comparison.

Fairly substantial amount of cold pretty close by.

Wow, okay... That's a good solution. That secondary block is quite miraculous in the way that it curves into Alaska. A bit to far west, but that sure compensates for it.

Didn't happen in January 2008, therefore there is no reason it will happen now.

It’s only one run but it’s nice to see. Let’s see the ensembles too.
