January 2021 weather observations for the PNW

Mark Nelsen currently thinking 1-3 inches above 1000ft on Sunday and snow in the air or mix for lowest elevations. As badly as I don't want that to be the outcome, we don't have a single model that gives us much of a reason to expect anything better than that here. Gonna need that low on Tuesday to get into a better position to hit us with east winds and steady precip.

Yep, 1000' snow levels is the safe bet with perhaps slushy accumulations below. We need the ridge a notch further east with the SE Alaskan shortwave and arctic trough diving south through BC instead of out over the ocean.

Sunday storm significantly stronger and further SW on this run. Stays offshore more instead of coming inland. Theoretically that would help decrease Southerly flow, but it's not spitting out snow.

Probably going to cut back on accumulations here. That is about a 2000’ snow level right there.
