It is interesting not only the players who played FOR Bellingham, but also players on the other teams who played there on the road against them too.

I got Ken Griffey Sr.’s autograph when I was 10 and he was coaching for Bellingham. 🙃 We’d always go to a game when we went to visit my uncle.

How was the summer weather up there in the summer?  I remember going to Coos Bay to play against the Oakland A's farm team.  The fog would roll in during the game and if you were sitting out in the bull pen you literally couldn't see home plate.  We had an old 50gal drum we'd start a fire in to keep warm.  An onshore wind would come up and guys would hit a shot to the outfield heading out when the wind would catch it and usually an infielder would pick it off in shallow outfield.  It was crazy how the wind would punish the long ball.  Life in the minors.

Looks like Jim and I are the only one left onboard now. And even if it does happen I will probably end up catching COVID on day 1 and wouldn’t be able to enjoy it anyway. 🤒

Maybe next year.

Could be quite chilly on the day I get the second stabbing!

I was drafted by the Phillies and was on the Gulf Coast league roster, but I never actually pitched before calling it quits.

Longtime lurker here but had to react to this! Haha. Don’t see too many local weather nerds who played Baseball. I played at the U of Hawaii (with Kolten Wong actually lol) and was a senior sign by Boston! D**n I miss baseball. And snow lol

Ended up not doing the orcas island trip as the snow situation in late January didn’t pan out as good as expected...hoping that mid February provides a good opportunity.

Wow Coos Bay had a minor league team! That’s great.

Yea, my degree's are in Biology but once in a while us science guys made it to a field somewhere.  Baseball and snow were not a good combination but by themselves it was great.  I pitched a game against UO in Bend in a tourney and it was 35 with snow flurries.  Not fun.  Many games in the PNW with on and off rain in the 40's.  Not fun either.

Nice! I'm hoping the Mariners make a run at Wong, actually!

I played at Bellevue College with a bunch of guys that ended up at Hawaii. Would've been 2013-2016 or so that my ex-teammates were there. I want to say at least 6 ended up playing for Hawaii.

I was a senior sign as well.

Makes me wish, among other reasons, that Mike Trout played with the Mariners and lived here.  Imagine having him on this board!

Oh ya, he's a total weather geek! Although I wonder if all that means is he doesn't use his iPhone weather app to gauge the hourly forecast and can name a few different types of clouds.

Coldest game I pitched in was 27 with flurries in early March in Oklahoma. My coach kept getting on me about my command, I was like okay dude. Even though my weather preference is cold, my pitching preference was 80 degrees +.

Batters were probably not anxious to dig in.  Hitting the ball on the hands or end of the bat were real stingers,  Pitchers had the advantage in that weather.  Well, we always do.  LOL

I’m sure we’ll eventually have to take this to a different channe lol, but that’s dope! Hawaii heavily recruited out of Bellevue College actually. We had like 4 guys from there. Bellevue was/is legit for players tbh. Especially pitchers. And yeah, I’ve actually been asking the people I know at the Mariners tab out that possibility with Kolten. I do think he’ll end up staying in St. Louis for now though. Also, it’s tough to hate on Dee Gordon. But to keep it weather related, I DO think mid February is our time for snow! 😂

Some of those bats, around 2010, before they changed the rules, were just insane.

Michael Conforto hit a home run off of me during a high school summer game at UW. Dead center, and the sound it made off the bat was terrifying.

I was in an all star game. This guy did a check swing and still hit a home run. I was pissed.

Uh yeah, weather! February has been good in recent years!

Okay, back to baseball...our coach at Bellevue had a good relationship with Hawaii. I signed with NNU in Fall before my sophomore season, but I know Hawaii had inquired about me after the season was under way and I was doing really well. I was really not good as a freshman, red-shirted my second year, and then was the #1/2 starter as a sophomore.

We had a large population of Hawaiian students on campus and several good players on our team.  There were good Hawaiian players scattered throughout the NW Conference in college.  I don't think Kolten will come to the M's.  He's a contact hitter but zero power.  He'd compete with France as long as we keep Kyle.  He's a vacuum cleaner on D though.  Pretty much would have an all golden glove infield.

I'm convinced this was the BEST bat ever.

Also, a pic of me in my Phillies uniform, for proof.

He’s gotten MUCH better at fielding but the dude is a head case. Very arrogant and streaky. Obviously an amazing player though. I also think I’d rather have Dee or someone else in the clubhouse

NWAAC was definitely a pitchers league. Then when I played at Oklahoma Wesleyan it was kind of the opposite. We had a guy hit 27 home runs in a season a few years after I graduated. We were like a .500 team when I was there, but they have made a couple trips to the NAIA WS in Lewiston the past decade.

Yeah Mike Trapasso would always look at Bellevue and So Cal first for recruiting. And that’s awesome man! I kinda wish I redshirted actually so I could have elevated my physical presence haha. And yes, I was a lead off hitter/corner outfielder

M's didn't pick up Gordon's contract.  He's a free agent.  Doubt they'll bring him back but they could.  He'll test the market.  I think they really want to see what France can do.  He's a hitter!  If Seager goes France would most likely go to 3rd unless they trade to bring someone in for either  spot.  That's my guess anyway.
