Also remember how crazy the models looked last January... but places from Seattle southward ended up with barely anything.  Even getting below freezing was a challenge.

We managed 10", but I think at this point I would rather have a dry/cold blast. A 35/15 type day would feel great.

My baseball mind and weather mind are very much intertwined.  A lot of memorized stats that no one else gives two shits about.  Does anyone really care that Jesse Barfield led the AL in dingers at one point?

I've never really watched it but I know that baseball is a very stat heavy sport. Which I guess explains why so many weather weenies seem to be baseball weenies.

I also realize I am fighting a losing battle trying to keep sports talk to the banter thread, so I figure if I can't beat em, join em.

No, boooo. A  "backdoor" blast could mean that arctic air actually makes it south of Everett 😩

Baseball statistical analysis called sabermetrics is much like the data used in the algorithms in weather modeling at least in concept.   Here's a starting point.  The game is a highly evolved numerical analysis that happens to have a baseball, bat and glove.  Weather fronts, tropical forcing, you name it, is boiled down to numerical analysis.  https://www.dodgersnation.com/analytics-101-a-guide-to-understanding-advanced-baseball-statistics/2019/03/28/

I'd rather watch cartoons than any football or baseball game.

Sabermetrics determine who you draft, who you trade, or if you give the guy a better contract.  You use the same kinds of numbers to essentially come up with a forecast.  We love you just the same.  "Build it and they will come!"

Just so I’m clear we are tossing the EURO because what it’s showing is not feasible. We are going with the GFS now correct? Might go ahead and put the mower deck back on the mower since our lowland threat is over.
Currently 41 degrees after a high of 44 and a low of 35.

.06” on the day.

I’m on team Euros side and I will go down with the ship if necessary (hopefully with a coating of ice and snow)!

46/38 currently 42

Hockey is my favorite sport to watch actually. Baseball is pretty boring to watch tbh 😂

Hockey at least has ice in the game.  The puck is so small I have to watch the reactions of the players to know where the darn thing is.  I love the game though.  I was once hit with a puck at a Seattle Totems game by a Guyle Fielder errant pass.  He gave me a signed puck.  I have since lost it of course.  I think I was around 12 years old at the time.

Playoff hockey!  I don't watch any regular season games but hardly miss a playoff game.  Man, they really get after it!

Yeah, all it takes is a quick look at any frame between 270 and 282 to know if the whole run sucks or not.

Best cartoon :

Elmer Fudd is Jack Cappell and Daffy Duck is salesman with GFS weather model

Jack Cappell was the best.  No one could draw isobars with his grease pen like he could.  BTW he was a huge hockey fan.  Very much involved in hockey in the community.

Something I didn't think about with all the snow going to California.  My work doesn't have much for us to process since all the trucks are trapped down there 😂

That’s pretty interesting. Seemed like it was messing up internet last night too.
