We're actually close to a cold snap near D5.5...

Day 5.5 (Past 4 runs) Incredible improvement. MUCH colder in Western Canada much more quickly.

Block still a bit too far east with the initial cool shot.

I think the LR will be a step back here from comparing upstream ridge "feeders", but improving the mid range is all that really matters here. The PNW is set up for a cold snap much more easily compared to the 18z. Upstream differences are volatile as ever right now, so I'm not giving much mind to whatever happens after D7.

CMC looks to deliver although the trough is not as deep as the previous run. We end up too warm for the system coming down from the north.
