SEA is now at 7.02 inches for the month.

The list of years with more than 7 inches of rain in the first 15 days of January is pretty short... it includes only 2021.

Plenty more rain coming overnight still so might get close to 8 inches.   Previous record for Jan 1-15 was 6.91 inches in 1956.    And 2006 was in second place at 6.78 inches.

It is getting borderline absurd here, probably gonna get to 3" of rain again today or close to it, and be around 17" MTD already.

Every system has kept moderate/heavy precip on our path since November.

Actually a bit of a stronger signal vs. 18z. Looks a little better imo.

Winter is saved! As long as these don’t change too much...then I’m not worried.

Some blustery conditions but nothing notable down here on the east side of town. Looks like elevated places around town are seeing some gusts but it's mostly just warm and wet with the occasional bluster. Currently 60F. EUG has hit a gust of 29mph so far, back at 8:15.

Quite pleasant smoking in a t-shirt and shorts on the porch.

Except I am cheering on the heavy rain now... might as well go big and run up those totals.    Won't be much rain after tonight for the next week.

Initial trough around day 10-11 is tending colder, but that is because the block is trending further West which could limit the opportunities for reinforcing shots of true cold air the last week of January IMO.

That westward trend of the ridge in the end of the long range has been there the last few days in several of the ensembles.

Ya it’s crazy SEA could get a quarter of its yearly rainfall in just the first 12 days.  Rain and warm stats have definitely been easy to come by the last decade.  Just a side note 23” is the lowest annual rainfall for SEA in 1952.

Transformer blew up just outside but seems pretty tame so far. Every model still says wind gets more intense, hmm

And right on queue in what seem to be a common theme this fall/winter when we have a major rain or AR event that come through, new records are broken either in the rain department or high temps. Olympia tied its record high of 56 today.

Update: looking out the window I saw a big flash on the east side which I assume was a transformer blowing. Friend in SE says power is out. Just pouring still and street signs swaying.

Yeah, pretty stormy, but nothing above 40 mph here.

Barometer reading 992 mb here. Wind hasn't increased much in the last hour or so, but it looks like it won't peak until 1-4 a.m.

Question for a more informed individual— are the peak winds with this system supposed to be with the pressure rises as the system passes by? Furthermore, when does euro say peak gusts are?
