No idea this was going to happen today! Mcminnville

Some pics on the way up to my property.  The ones on the road are 1/4 mile down the road and the gate is the beginning of my 120 acre land.

Interesting that you can still access if you have it bookmarked. But it's no longer there on the drop down menu.

I am atmospheric wrath after all.

Usually we're so used to ridges trending east, east, east, which in this case would drop the arctic hammer on us... Well no further east than ~135 W with sharp tilt. Preferably ~155 to 145 W. C'MON!!!!

Gosh look at the 500mb pattern for March 5th and 6th 1951.

Abbotsford BC recorded 63.5cm (25 inches) in 48 hours.

Phil, what caused such an intense arctic pattern so late in the year? Its hard enough to get that around here in December and January nowadays let alone March.march51951.gif.7dda95caea97cad1888ee95d059ed47b.gifmarch61951.gif.3b7a27f71a3575ffb8a8a919cec32e55.gif

Probably a SSW or dynamic final warming to produce a late winter -NAO like that under -ENSO.

Phil! We are now about 3 weeks in after SSW. What's happening?

Asking for a friend. ;)

SSW/wind reversal peaked 3 days ago. Lol.

It’s one goofus run. Not the end of the world.

You still think real arctic air will make an appearance in the Northwest?

I think waffles will soon be on the menu.

I think so. Chances are significantly higher than climatology, at the very least.

Whoa from the reactions on here I thought the GFS would be WAYYY worse than it actually is haha. Still not a bad run even if it gets messy in the LR.

Too bad we don't have each run side by side.  Would be cool to see euro day 4 next to gfs day 4.  Differences would become obvious.

Are you volunteering? ;)

Looking at the past 4 days of the 00z the ridge is trending stronger at Day 5

Maybe, but it looks less amplified than last night's 0z run. Also a step back with the ridge merger.
