There was a lot of modeling that was showing legitimate snow. Not slop over.  You don’t get a lot of that from the hi res mesoscale models. They were just wrong.

The most recent ECMWF (before event onset) was showing gray every place other than near the mountains. Yes, earlier runs were better, some much better, but the trend was there and was not encouraging for snow lovers.

It's called clown range for a reason.

Tom Brady is still pretty good. 🤩

He’s GOAT but that play should never been allowed to happen by the defense. With 0 TO left and 8 seconds you don’t play 1v1 coverage. Brady will kill you with that. GB had to play for the Hail Mary defense there. Baffling.

We actually saw more snow in October than any other month so far this season. Raging jet is never a good thing out here.

On 09/30/2019 wasn't there like several feet of snow in outlined parts of Montana?

Yep. If you just looked at the euro your expectations would have been set fairly low.  That’s not slop over though. The mesoscale models were just being inaccurate. I think the mainland may get some tonight still.

apparently the pro Mets were fooled too.  So far the 2-6” forecast has not resulted in a single flake here

If I were a betting man I would go with something closer to the GFS and parallel than the EPS right now.  I'm not buying the unamplified look of the EPS with a major MJO wave in progress in the 10 to 15 day period.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out though.  It would be a major upset to go through the next few weeks without something pretty major happening in the NW.

Nice! Did it just change to snow recently there?

Yeah, around 15 minutes ago. Now basically steady wet flakes, real pretty to look at.

I feel like higher elevation areas could get a bit of a surprise with that offshore flow in place on Tuesday. Fingers crossed.

Yeah....this first event has been dying a slow death on the models.

Just saying the pieces are there for a good outcome.  There have been some very decent GFS and parallel runs over the past 4 or 5 runs.  At any rate we have at least flipped to below normal temps.

Yeah, even though Andrew has made some very compelling points lately about how life is nothing more than a meaningless abyss of infinite sorrow, I am pretty pleased with how things look overall. We could be doing far worse.

Even the Malahat is still all rain as are most places south of Comox. There was some snow in inland parts of the island, otherwise the temperatures are just a tad too warm. I'm guessing Nanaimo through Shawinigan will pick up a bit of snow tonight.

Snow has temporarily transition from light snizzle to actual light snow, beginning to stick on the ducks backs.

So you’re gonna have to hold those ducks really still to get a good measurement.

Imagine if this was all snow.

Well I have had .31” of precipitation so far...Would have equaled quite a few inches of snow.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Seems the temp has peaked here, if we can get precipitation rates to continue at the very least it would be pretty to watch.

Only 0.10" at KBLI so far, so it is of little loss here. The event on the solstice was juicier and by far the better one to deliver (and it did).
