6z GEFS Day 10-16 A bit better and the 850mb ensembles does show colder members. If the block had amplified into southern Alaska this run would have been COLD! Not quite there, but this is an improvement.

At least SLE was able to pull off a freeze last night. Down to 29 up here above the fog.

Really encouraging trends on the ensembles.

00Z EPS is in full retrogression mode at the end of the run... as was pointed out last night.

I would bet money that the last week of January is going to be cold.   And probably beyond that as well.

Looks like a solid 2-3" of rain in the lowlands through Wednesday night. Washington Cascades look to get some snow too.

12z looks pretty decent. In the short term it cuts the torch short next week which is good news.

Low of 32 early this morning, but was up to 35 with thick fog by sunrise. 36 currently. Today could actually stay below 50.

25 and freezing fog. I was hoping that snow wouldn't be so icy. Any sidewalks that weren't shoveled are making it impossible to get around here.

28 for a low this morning, currently 31.  No fog here.  I'm agreeing there is a pattern shift ahead but that block is bordering on being too far west.  At any rate it's way better than warm and wet.

edit:  just saw the ensembles, looking better

Should be at average rainfall on the month after this AR event. Haven’t had below average rainfall here since July and august. Now that we’ve gotten the rain we need some snow and cold. Like what we’re seeing so far might be able to do the snow trip to orcas before the end of the month.

Very nice to see the models trying to establish some cold the last week of Jan. This is very indicative of what we can expect from the Siberian SSW event 2-3 weeks out, so timing is moving along very nicely.

Base on models signals from yesterday and today, we could enter prolonged period of cold weather with western troughing for late Jan-first half of Feb, according to the EPS.

Nope, that would of only pushed the snow line north of him.  Snow knows to stay aways from us folks who live in snow starved areas.
