As I have been saying on the Fox 12 fb page since March, if Walmart is open there is no reason whatsoever that every other business can't be adhering to the same safety protocols. The shut downs are intentional and it is not a coincidence that Democrat ran cities are the only ones with draconian and tyrannical shut downs even when the science, yea that same science they continuously tout does not show them being necessary. A 1% rate of transmission for indoor dining and negligible risk for schools is proof they do not follow the science. Business owners should have stopped complying back in April and do not pay a single unconstitutional fine. A gym owner back in New Jersey remained open and has incurred $1.2 MIL in fines and he will not pay a dime. 00z GFS in 1 hour 5

The UK has much more draconian restrictions currently than we do (and the country is run by a very un-Democrat like prime minister), but they really had no choice - it got to a point where the virus was spreading so quickly, if they didn't do something hospitals were going to be stretched to a breaking point. A primary responsibility of government is to make sure its people have adequate access to health care. If the hospital system is overrun and breaks down, that doesn't happen. And the more densely populated a region or country is (the UK is very densely populated), the easier covid spreads and the easier it is for outbreaks to overwhelm the health care system. Point being, what restrictions are "necessary" is definitely subjective and depends on a variety of factors, but it's not a simple political thing. 8 2 Quote Low. Solar. Again...look around the world. Almost everywhere is reporting the same thing - very little flu. Why? It's a lot less transmissible than covid, and the social restrictions made it very difficult to spread, to the point that it's practically wiped out in some areas. Of course, it will eventually come back. bainbridgekid 3000
Cold air makes a beeline from the Bering Sea West of Alaska straight to us on the 00z. This would be a very unusual setup but anything is possible with a gargantuan block like that. Would definitely be more maritime polar air coming from that direction but what's shown is pretty nutty. About as cold onshore flow as is possible around here. 2 Quote Everett Snowfall 2018-19: 24.75"2019-20: 10.5" 1/10: 0.5"1/12: 5.5"1/13: 1"1/14: 1.5"1/15: 2"
Meatyorologist 1451
I think that given the lack high latitude blocking on this one, it'll be a more frigid maritime pattern, but it's still something fun to look at. A San Francisco highlands snowfall type of pattern. PSCZ convective accumulations during the night, highs in the thirties. Much like January 2012.

Meatyorologist 1451
No, it's not arctic, but if you handed me a button saying, "If you press this, the 00z will verify, and if you don't, it's up to chance," I'd press it in a heartbeat. It's not arctic, but it's not warm, either, and would likely give everyone a shot at some point. And looking at these further frames coming in, I think it sets us up nicely for a more lucrative second try, as heights more readily build into AK and a cold pool firmly entrenches itself into western Canada. *edit: nvm the AL reigns supreme, and our precious block is halted at US customs in Anchorage. Still not a bad pattern by any means.
