After a number of rough wind events during the first week of March, this guy wire bracket on my anemometer pole had had enough and gave way.

The steel bracket literally warped and ruptured, sending the guy wire recoiling through the air, snapping off from the fastened base bracket and launching into the trees. It’s a heavy pole, but I didn’t know the microswaying could put this much tension on an individual bracket. Will definitely have to rethink this.

Huge storm today. Blast of wind snapped branches and threw tree debris hundreds of feet in the air. A few MoCo MESONET stations recorded winds to ~ 70mph.

Caught some pictures of the first two gusts. Can see some debris aloft and breaking branches in the canopy.

Some violent updrafts today in this swampy airmass.

Some photos from here in Aomori, Japan this winter.  This has been a milder-than-average winter for Aomori, but we've still had some great storms.  The climate here is by far the best I've ever experienced, and I used to live in various snow belt regions in Montana (moving back there later this year probably).

Wow, those are some amazing photos. Is your area in the PSCZ, which is why you had that much snow? Most areas in western WA and OR seem to have had less than that. Sorry for the ignorance haha, I'm not that familiar with WA microclimates.

Some photos from January 11th, 2017, definitely my favorite snow event. 13 inches in one night and clear/cold days that allowed the snow to stick around for almost a week. I was asleep but there were also reports of thundersnow, and the winds allowed the snow to drift a lot.

Just saw your post from June LOL! Yes I am in the convergence zone. I am in the northern part of where it typically forms depending on the flow around the Olympics. 🙂

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

What does this thermometer read? My dad says 2 degrees Fahrenheit. I say 11 degrees Fahrenheit. Either way, I believe it's a poor layout.
