I was expecting more wind from this.  I've been out a few times to measure and there is no blowing/drifting at all.

season snowfall: 34.8"

'22-23: 30.2"      '21-22: 27.1"      '20-21: 52.5"      '19-20: 36.2"      '18-19: 50.2"      '17-18: 39.5"

Average snowfall: ~30"

I just took 3 measurements on my driveway that averaged out to 5.6".  It has been snowing for about 7 hours straight.  The first couple hours it was primarily light snow with bigger dendrites and a tad wetter/dense variety, however, once the heavier stuff came in around 9:00pm or so, the flake size diminished but became a fluffier snow.  I'm thrilled this isn't the "heart attack" snow LOT was suggesting and every single weatherman on TV.  It should be easy to shovel later today.  I'm hoping for double digits, but I doubt we get there.  Radar is showing the heavier trying to pivot it's way up here but I'm afraid its going to begin fading soon.  It looks like 1/2" - 3/4" per hour rates are on the horizon overnight.  I'd be thrilled if we manage to get 8" out of this.  The wild card will be the LES.  It does appear that there is some LEHS on radar showing up from Kenosha on north near MKE from the easterly winds.

@brianc400, where are you located again?  Lake county???  I think I'm seeing some Lehs signature flowing into Lake county on radar.  How are returns up your way?

I am in Hawthorn Woods. I did have some l lake effect dancing around here in the last couple hours. Hoping this latest finger works its way up to me in the next hour.

I haven’t been out too measure yet but I’m hopeful I’ll find 7-8 by the time I get out. Let’s see!

I'm literally applying everywhere across the country right now lol. Just happens that I was interviewed for a position in Janesville. So... Hope for the best?

Congrats! I’ve heard of Janesville quite a bit. It’s not that far from eastern Iowa.

Wow, I'm up to 4.6" and a heavier band has set up over Cedar Rapids again.  I have a shot at 6".

Man, this could not have worked out any better for Cedar Rapids.  Larger flakes are piling up easily and radar shows the heaviest band of snow training over CR.  I must be at about 5.2" now.  6" looks like a lock.  The HRRR totally nailed this snow band overnight into this morning.

Congrats to the peeps out East!!  Can't win'em all. :O)  Only .6" or so here but not a total loss as the liquid rain never really got going yday so the snowpack didn't take a beating and is still at a robust 9" and ready for the next system!!

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Enjoy your snowfall and remember to lift with the legs not the back.

At one point 87 million people were affect by a Winter Storm Warning/Watch for Arlena. I'm an exclusion !

But it was a great night for AM radio reception, I pulled in 1630 KCJJ, Napoleon Street Southeast + Sand Road Southeast Cedar Rapids, 588.79 miles East of me.

As predicted, the snow band is finally beginning to shrink and weaken.  It'll probably be mostly over by 9am.

It’s a bit drifty here but it looks like we have close to 7” on the ground. Like others said, it’s not wet at all. Dense, but not wet. Still, I’m not looking forward to digging out the plow pile.

HRRR shows 3-4” more for the next several hours so maybe I can squeeze in another inch or two. I’m not buying the LES amounts in full.

I’m taking a break from shoveling the drive and I’d say a solid 7” OTG.  LES is in full effect and snowing moderately ATM.  I’m hopeful to score double digits. Let’s see how this turns out throughout the day.  Those bands up in SE WI must be 1”+/hr stuff.

Earlier this morning there were some intense bands that rolled through your area.  I’m curious to hear how much fell.  It’s officially a “Sunday Snow Day” here in Chitown!  Love hearing the sounds of snow blowers throughout the neighborhood and snow falling from the sky.  This is the Winter feel I missed.

While sipping my morning Greek coffee, I am thoroughly enjoying the falling snow outside right now. Looks beautiful, "Winter Wonderland." Not sure how much, but looks like 2" or slightly more. This will be a tricky forecast because later on, snow tapers off, but redevelops again later this evening into most of Monday and Monday nite. Cant wait to see how that turns out.

Btw: This storm redevelops off the EC and buries NYC from 18 to near 2ft+. Insane amounts. Blizzard Conditions expected there. Bullseye is somewhere near that vicinity.
