Tom
I just took 3 measurements on my driveway that averaged out to 5.6". It has been snowing for about 7 hours straight. The first couple hours it was primarily light snow with bigger dendrites and a tad wetter/dense variety, however, once the heavier stuff came in around 9:00pm or so, the flake size diminished but became a fluffier snow. I'm thrilled this isn't the "heart attack" snow LOT was suggesting and every single weatherman on TV. It should be easy to shovel later today. I'm hoping for double digits, but I doubt we get there. Radar is showing the heavier trying to pivot it's way up here but I'm afraid its going to begin fading soon. It looks like 1/2" - 3/4" per hour rates are on the horizon overnight. I'd be thrilled if we manage to get 8" out of this. The wild card will be the LES. It does appear that there is some LEHS on radar showing up from Kenosha on north near MKE from the easterly winds.

Hawkeye
Man, this could not have worked out any better for Cedar Rapids. Larger flakes are piling up easily and radar shows the heaviest band of snow training over CR. I must be at about 5.2" now. 6" looks like a lock. brianc400
It’s a bit drifty here but it looks like we have close to 7” on the ground. Like others said, it’s not wet at all. Dense, but not wet. Still, I’m not looking forward to digging out the plow pile. HRRR shows 3-4” more for the next several hours so maybe I can squeeze in another inch or two. I’m not buying the LES amounts in full.

Looks beautiful, "Winter Wonderland." Not sure how much, but looks like 2" or slightly more. This will be a tricky forecast because later on, snow tapers off, but redevelops again later this evening into most of Monday and Monday nite. Cant wait to see how that turns out. Btw: This storm redevelops off the EC and buries NYC from 18 to near 2ft+. Insane amounts. Blizzard Conditions expected there. Bullseye is somewhere near that vicinity.
