Ames and Des Moines are barely even going to get into the precip.  It really veered east from where models had it a couple days ago.

It's raining here now, at least partly freezing.  The snow pack is covered with a hard glaze.

Still rain here, models say it will change to snow by 6pm.

A few pieces of sleet are beginning to mix in here... a good sign we could be snow by 6pm.

Still sleet here, so the models are a bit too aggressive with the changeover.  We can probably chop an inch off our snow total because of this.

Still all rain here so far. Wasn’t cold enough for much ice accrual, but also didn’t get quite as warm as forecasted. Right at 32° still. Once it refreezes I’ll have 2 layers of glacier, or three layers with more wet snow.😬

I probably had around 0.30” of rain so far.

A few flakes are beginning to mix in here on the west side.

The latest HRRR has 1.2" of snow falling by 7pm, which is clearly wrong, so we can chop at least that much off its 5.9" total for CR.  I'd be happy with 3-4".

DVN radar correlation coefficient is spot on.  It's currently showing the snow line crashing south through Cedar Rapids.  I just looked out again and we are mostly snow now.

We were at 80% chance of rain/snow mix for today as of last evening. Overnight update dropped it to 30% scattered drizzle for today and didn’t even get that.
