Sign me up for another incher. At least it's climo-supported now, but it's ridiculous how moisture-starved NoDak has been for every storm.

...COLD FRONT TO BRING WINTER IMPACTS TO EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA AND
NORTHWEST INTO WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA...

A cold front will traverse the region this afternoon and evening
bringing light accumulations of snow and ice, gusty winds,
blowing snow, and falling temperatures. A wintry mix of freezing
rain and sleet is expected to bring a light glaze of ice to some
locations this afternoon and early evening. A transition to light
and briefly moderate snow is expected for portions of eastern
North Dakota into northwest Minnesota, resulting in accumulations
less than 2 inches. Gusty winds behind the front will create areas
of blowing snow within eastern North Dakota and the Red River
Valley. Blowing snow and moderate snowfall may briefly reduce
visibility to half a mile or less tonight into Thursday. Those
traveling or outdoors should be prepared for the return of winter
conditions.

18z HRRR taking a step in the right direction for us Eastern IA folks.

Yeah, the 18z HRRR has juiced back up over here... not just for eastern Iowa, but back into central Iowa as well.

The warm sector of this system is well timed such that we will rise above freezing late tonight and fall back below freezing before noon tomorrow. Looks like the amount of snow loss will be minimized.

^^ that's a good sign. As most know- and could still happen- as the event gets closer most guidance goes down. A step in the right direction.

The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Boy, the NAM dried Iowa out this morning, showing CR down to 1.9".  The 18z juices us back up and then some.  I think 6" is unlikely, but I'm just looking for consistent 3-4" totals from the models.

NWS gives GR 5-10" through Friday evening.  I'm thinking Higher end where I am at.  250 degree wind will hammer GR.

This is just with a WWA, I'm assuming if things play out we will go to WSW, but man GR is soooo conservative.  I thought it would change, but nope.  5-10" of snow in 24 hours with 20-40 mph winds won't give us a watch or a warning?  Especially with virtually no snowstorms this year yet?  I bet Jaster has some words for this lol

Clouds approaching from the west after a fantastic day. 35 fairly calm wind and sunshine. Got an extra face cord of wood stacked for this next week. Cleaned up the driveway a bit and got everything snug.  Let's see how this goes, but sure looks like 8-10" here with maybe a bit of lake effect added on before -22 Sunday night. Trails will be spectacular with this wet snow and frigid temps to set it up. If anyone wants to ride this next week will be pretty darn great.
