The northerly flow is trending sharper.  Very good.

We are really due.  1989 was fantastic, but no big ones since.  I do remember one year in the 2000s had a fair amount.  It's kind of surprising how may big snow / cold events we have had in early March.  Prior to 1989 you had 1971, 1960, 1955, 1951, etc.

March 2012 was pretty snowy in the Willamette Valley.

This is a situation where even a tiny bit of improvement on each run could make a big difference in how cold it gets.  There is a ton of cold air to work with in BC.  I do know that with almost every trough this winter they have verified 1 or 2C colder than progged just a day or so ahead of time.

The models are really touting a major Kona low for the middle of next week.  Don't be surprised if something pops for later next week.

Early March 2019 was our first low in the teens in March since the 70s.

I know not top tier, but March 2009 had some chilly offshore flow.

It snowed 3" on Bainbridge on March 15th, 2009. Really unexpected and put my Winter total over 40 inches so it was pretty great.

Ryan Maue posted the 18z GFS parallel at day 9 on his Twitter

Was wondering why we didn't hear about it.

You’ve given me the confidence to stick with this and to make a point. The only way we can attract people who want to have serious discussions about the weather in the frame of our climate must adhere to a construct of reality or they will be mocked and their online weather lives canceled. It’s just silly that anyone could think we could have anything cold late in a La Niña winter with those blazingly high sun angles.

Thanks again lil buddy, you’ve helped turned this forum around.

Uhh.. wasn't my point, but you do you.

Is the precipitation that's been going on today in the North Sound just a result of lift as the NW flows encounters the Cascade Foothills?

I just think it's been interesting that I've been right on the western edge of the rain on radar. At times we've had just light mist while at other times it's been moderate to heavy rain.

Not that I am looking forward to March, but Seattle had a significant snow on March the 9th in 1989 or 1990. I was working in the Federal building and what I feel like was advertised as a mix of snow and rain turned into a solid six inches on Capital Hill. I ruined a pair of Kenneth Cole suede loafers because I had to walk home to the top of Capital Hill. The buses were not chained up and one after one got stuck on East John. Fun times
