It's snowing pretty good here.  The problem is it's going to be in and out quickly north of I-80.

Hopefully the plows come through my neighborhood this afternoon/evening, but I'm not counting on it. With another 2-4" tonight/tomorrow it could get to where cars start getting stuck if it's not cleared.

I've picked up a lousy 0.7" of snow this afternoon.  It has been kinda pretty, but, despite the very cold atmosphere, the snow to liquid ratio is only 10:1.

Now the GFS is shifting the weak Monday system south of Cedar Rapids.  I may not even reach 2" total through Monday.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION National Weather Service Hastings NE 553 PM CST Sat Feb 6 2021 ...Updating Snowfall Forecast... .UPDATE... Issued at 543 PM CST Sat Feb 6 2021

We plan to slide our heavier snow band for tonight a bit further south based on the 18Z NAM and the most recent runs of the HRRR and RAP. We will mainly be increasing snow amounts in the Hastings, Grand Island, Kearney area and on the south side of the current forecast snow band. Generally now expecting another 3-5 inches in the Tri-Cities tonight into Sunday morning. The best frontogenesis will be over our area around 3-6 AM Sunday morning and we will see most of the snow falling through a large dendritic growth zone given the very cold temperatures. Therefore, expect a nice 20:1 ratio making a light and fluffy snow.

The 00z HRRR is very weak, and south, with the Monday wave.  Today's 0.7" may be all I get out of the entire weekend wave train.

Only picked up 0.5” of very fine powder today but it was enough to provide a fresh coating.  It should be a nice looking morning sunrise along with the brutal subzero cold to come along with it.  Was hoping to score a tad more out of today’s wave.  It did look pretty, however, falling during most of the afternoon.
