I'm not totally sure how things went for other areas in Feb 2019.  That would be the only other one I can think of.

Nowhere near as good for the Portland area, or for Whatcom County.

It's called clown range for a reason.

I've been a part of several weather forums for the past 15 years and they more or less run the same. There is discussion among individuals with a large range in knowledge about weather and then there'

West side of Olympia as of 7 PM is up to approximately 5 inches and still snowing steadily.

My front door in Troutdale this morning. Last night was incredible with 45-55 mph gusts for many hours. I'm on a hill around 300' directly facing east.

Hard to tell in the pic, but it is really coming down!

I don't think my GF's chickens are too thrilled with the snow! lol. They've been perched above it more then they've been in it.

For those places that went above freezing... the ECMWF temp loop shows temps will back below freezing in the next couple hours and the snow in in EPSL will continue in spurts until maybe 7 p.m.

When does it show precip moving back in? Some meso models are showing 3-6am.

We come from the land of the ice and snow.

This is the strangest progression I've ever witnessed quite frankly.  The agonizingly slow setup to build the tremendous cold air mass over North American and then the huge upper level pattern change to deliver the goods.  The only reason this all worked out so well was because of the insane nature of the NA Arctic airmass.  That thing was / is a beast.  Such gigantic cold air masses are why we used to score so much more easily in this region.  Hopefully this is a sign they are making a comeback.  Smaller cold air masses require so many things to go perfectly to work out.

I honestly think the SSW perseverance over the last 40 days or so really drove this thing. Hopefully we can get a monster one next year as well, only earlier like late November.

The ECMWF shows just spotty precip later this evening and most of tomorrow morning... and then a large batch of moisture tomorrow afternoon.

Overall a very impressive storm for the whole region north of Eugene. Major ice storm for the valley and south Portland metro. Snowstorm from Portland to Bellingham with widespread totals of 6-12 inches. At my location we have about 4 inches or so in spots and a ton of ice and sleet, but it’s hard to tell because of how windy it was.

I feel like if it wasn't for the wind , ice and sleet the snow totals would have been higher.

Yeah it’s very interesting I’m just barely in the cold sector but down past JBLM puyallup and graham it’s 35-37 but nice to hear it’ll cool down to the south soon.

Yeah it feels REALLY weird to me. Currently at 37 here, no snow. Getting a little melt. Like I’m in some kind of dead zone between the north and south. And the east and west, haha. Very strange event for me.

Couldn't keep the lid on 32 today, ended up with a 32.3 max.   Up to 10" now thanks to the persistent convergence over the north sound.  I hope we can see some more snow before the season comes to an end.

It cut too much out in King County for sure. I'm at the borderline of the first red now. Where that map is showing the first darker green.

Interesting that you got warmer in Arlington vs. down here in Kirkland and Shoreline. It just now touched 29. Been a solid moderate snow for half hour.

Working on a 22.0/7.4 day here.  North winds have came back and the temp is 19.6 with a little vort-max moving in this evening. Currently 10" of snow on the ground.  No complaints here.

Check that....18.2 now.....dropping fast with the wind switch.

Today's temps have been dependent on wet bulb effect, unless you are talking about the warm surge south of Seattle.  I ended up with a 30 /23 range today.

They keep forming over Enumclaw, and looks to be convergence happening there. Would love to understand why this is occurring.

I think it's an Arctic boundary.  South / relatively moist winds south of Tacoma colliding with cold / dry east winds north of Tacoma.

Pretty sure that is the boundary of sorts.   It starts around Forks, and bends SE to wear it is right around me down here.

I think I had as much fun tracking the event with everyone on here as I did with the actual event. The person who came on here a few days ago complaining about how we operate OUR forum dosen't understand the importance of the emotions and all our little habits.  I've been here 13 years now and it's as crazy as ever.
