I’m with you on the Arctic blast.  At least I hope this next storm pans out for us

From the arctic front stand point this was a major let down.

It's 30 degrees here.  Whoop deee doo!  It can be 30 degrees in April on a clear night.

I just remember back to the good old days when an arctic front would rip through heading south with strong gusty north/north east winds.  Just the raw power of those things were fun to experience.

Seems like it hasn't happened in a  long time.

West side of Olympia as of 7 PM is up to approximately 5 inches and still snowing steadily.

My front door in Troutdale this morning. Last night was incredible with 45-55 mph gusts for many hours. I'm on a hill around 300' directly facing east.

Wow! Incredible trends continue for models up here! I believe the Euro now has the lowest snow totals and it shows 7"! Here's a quick shot of total snow through Tuesday afternoon (Hr 114) for the GFSs and Monday morning (Hr 84) for the mesoscale models.

Now as long as the NWS avoids the "kiss of death" and doesn't give us any sort of watch or warning we should be okay. 🤣

It might be a very icy night here. Or it may go back and forth from snow. Hard to tell.

Gonna be fun watch this all unfold on radar. All depends on the track of the low.

12z nam is further north like icon but still very good for western wa. 06z gfs much further south for Monday system and looks like another big event for the puget sound.

RGEM continues to look better.  Improvement of an inch or two over most areas over the solid 06Z (except far south, still shows huge amounts there though)

This was a lovely read to wake up to! Oh and Dark Sky blaring some odd tone I had never heard around 4:30am (sure my wife loved that) telling me I am now under a Winter Storm Warning!

Currently 25 degrees.

DP 18.

Yep, continues to look better for the North Sound. Especially when it keeps that Monday system cool.

Is the cold looking like it'll stick around enough to give us more snow with the Monday system, or is it still kinda ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ?

Certainly up in the air for Monday still... the 06Z ECMWF was a little colder than the 00Z run but it still showed rain.   FWIW... the new 12Z ICON just came in much farther north than its 00Z run and shows rain that day.

Disappointment even here in Bellingham on the arctic blast front.  We did have decent winds, but couldn't even manage a temp in the single digits or low teens.  Bottomed out at 19 here and looks like the airport bottomed out at 22.  I supposed if we actually had snow on the ground it might have been different.

RGEM has it south of the 6Z run. Very snowy Seattle north

Got 5 hours of sleep. Thoroughly exhausted! Let’s get it!!!!

I am tempted to try and take a nap after work at 7:00 PM, wake up at 10:00 PM and stay up the rest of the night, I will be a zombie at work on Saturday but if this storm delivers nobody is coming into the clinic anyway.

Good morning everyone, who is ready for for today's festivities?  I think I got enough sleep to pull an all nighter!!

Do it. Snow isn't really getting going till the middle of the night anyways

And then rgm came in way south and shows a lot of snow for tacoma north. Going to be a crazy few days.

I edited my post... after looking at the 06Z ECMWF again.    It shows a warm up that day but I think there is a decent chance that Seattle northward stays snowy.

No doubt... so many variables when we get the cold air in place like we do now.

Only ended up with about 2” and now sleet/zr mix and 28.

That disappointment you feel when you go outside and realize that it was mostly sleet instead of snow.

This looks like it may begin ahead of schedule looking at radar and sat loop.

Maybe, I am making a quick errand run now instead of later just in case.  I would rather it wait til later as progged so most falls after dark, but it is a long duration storm so it may not matter.

Good morning from Snolympia. I’m going to make you all hate me. We have 6” so far.

NWS is going with 6 to 8 inches tonight. I think that’s understated. I think we have a real possibility of hitting 2 feet by the time this is over.

Yeah... its going to be more than 6-8 inches down there with this next system.

After yesterday/last night, I think us down in the Olympia/Shelton/Yelm/Tumwater areas are going to see A LOT more snow than what the NWS is saying. In my area specifically, we just don't really get the big winds from the East to dry it out. I saw a GIF of the winds coming through the gaps and what not, and I am literally in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, and they just go around. lol

12z gfs shows a rare puget sound ice storm and snow on Monday. Has shifted south again. Rgem is mostly snow for same time. WE DO NOT WANT 12Z GFS TO VERIFY MONDAY.

Even with its usual unrealistically cold temps... the 12Z GFS still shows temps in the mid 30s on Monday.   That would not be an ice storm in reality.

I am in between the 1st and 3rd shade of purple, I think a good guess for here is 6 to 9 inches, hopefully more.
