Color me impressed with this cold front.  Just an absolute classic.  I think the 34 degrees with 55mph winds in Ellensburg sums it up pretty good.  That cold with down sloping is ridiculous this time of year.

Currently 38 here, but I see many places have slipped into the mid 30s already.

Ha, we also had a wild front blast thru today. Same weather, different coast. 😂

This is the scene on my street after multiple rounds of 60+mph winds this evening. Another tree fell on the back of a house on Helmsdale Rd.

That is weird to have a dramatic storm on both coasts at the same time.

00Z ECMWF is basically dry for the next 9 days... and then shows significant lowland snow in places on day 10 which is almost mid April.  This would be pretty crazy given the time of year.

The ECMWF drops a cold bomb on us in early April.  A couple of days end up with a large minus departure.  Speaking of that SEA ended up with a nice -5 for Sunday.  I ended up with a 46 / 36 range.  Normal highs are around 56 this time of year for those keeping score...maybe more like 54 here.

Dropped to 31 here this morning.  Looks like I'll end up with 14 freezing low temps this month, which is only one short of my March record from 2009.

Pretty incredible to start the night out with SW winds and clouds and end up with a freeze this time of year.  This cold front totally reminds me of the mid 1980s.

The low of 30 this morning for Boeing Field is 100% impressive for this time of year.  SEA managed 35 which isn't terrible either.  SEA is running -0.8 for the month and should easily end up -1.0 or below for the month.  Nice to see below normal temperatures really taking hold finally.

The 12z GFS is really chilly in the believable time frame to say the least.  The GFS ensemble is on board too with the mean dropping to -5 around the 4th.  We are on a roll!

Yeah I was pretty surprised we managed to pull it off. Figured our freeze on the 17th would be the last one this year. Hasn’t gotten below freezing this late in the year since 4/6/2011.

Doesn't look like HIO made a freeze this morning but it is at 67 freezes this season. Could we make it to 70? Usually HIO sees at least one or two in an average April...

Which town is HIO?

I'm betting this April will have a large number of freezes for the favored locations.

Hillsboro, Oregon. Nice radiational cooling spot in the Tualatin Valley WNW of PDX.

Sounds kind of like last April. Hopefully this year is a little more exciting.

Pretty sure they probably did. Really cool to see there was still some snow up there in late March this year when you went up. You’ll have to check it out when they’ve got several feet of snow it’s pretty crazy when that happens. Latest I’ve been up there in the year was 3/18/2018...they still had a decent amount of snow that time when I went up.

I’ve been up there the last 4 years in mid February-mid March and they’ve had snow every time I’ve been there. It’s actually a pretty snowy location being 2400’ up despite being on an island. The last several winters have been kind of backloaded though so they’ve done well late in the season.

Seems like a pretty chilly climate up there for being on an island and only 2,400 ft in elevation. The forest on the summit plateau has a montane to subalpine look to it. I imagine being directly in the path of Fraser outflow has something to do with that, plus the island's northerly location overall.

Very interesting.  No doubt the climate gets interesting real fast in the NW with even a little bit of altitude.

I know we've discussed the Waterville Plateau in the past, and it is a great example.  About 1700 feet higher than Wenatchee and it's a different world for cold and snow.
