Comparing current subsurface anomalies to those in 2011. DOKW is somewhat faster in 2021 but in both years the equatorial anomaly went positive by midsummer. Trades attenuated the DOKW in 2011 and 2012, and will likely do so again in 2021.

Good chance that Saturday is nice... the 00Z ECMWF showed Saturday being like today.     Sunday is never nice now.   Apparently that is not allowed this year.  😁

12z GFS spits out 60 for SEA on Saturday. And then it's 41 Sunday afternoon.

Thanks Andrew and glad I have you all to share my weather excitement with.  As I’ve said before I enjoy all the different personalities here on the forum.  Quite the mix and entertaining!  I have a scroll bar if not entertained 😁

Looks like Hillsboro is good for its first 40+ diurnal of the year. 71/28 today.

The pine tree in my backyard is making a lot of popping sounds. Think it is an Austrian Pine, native to Europe but commonly planted in backyards around here.

60 here. Got a pano shot of the snow capped Olympics on my daily trek around the neighborhood. There’s an eagle flying toward the middle of the pic but you gotta zoom in to make it out.

Edit. This time with the right photo.

I love these large temperature spread days. One of the reasons why Summer is my favorite month.

Off topic but important. Washington just announced all residents over 16 will be vaccine eligible April 15th. Pretty exciting to know we are only two weeks away from everyone being eligible!

Up to 62 here but can confirm a bite to the breeze.

Yeah... that would make for a different experience.   Its 67 here with no wind at all.    That is common here on warm days... because we are well protected from a N or NW wind and that is the predominant wind direction on our nice warm season days.

Still plenty warm for hazy IPA happy hour on the deck so no complaints!

Those Indo-Pacific SSTs are on fire. With cool EPAC/-PMM, this is a recipe for a strong Walker Cell going into the warm season.

At this point, I’d say the chances of El Niño developing this summer are close to zero.
