Link
Anybody else remember this? I got a snow day despite it falling on a Sat night for some odd reason school was closed entirely that Monday and Tuesday was a 2 hour delay. How much snow did you get? To me it seemed like 2 inches but we lived in/on a hill in Silverton. Silverton sometimes gets more snow then other places or less snow as it skirted our old town. Reg
I was in the 4th grade at the time, but I do recall one day in late January of 2002 where it was unusually very cold during the middle of the day, and quite windy - during our lunch recess at school, it literally snowed for about 30 seconds before turning to rain. But, I was in Wildomar, CA at the time - elevation about 1400 FT where my school was. There were isolated reports of low elevation snow throughout the day that day, which my research tells me was the 29th of January 2002. I am not sure where you were, but in Southern California, that day was unusually cold (in the midst of an otherwise very dry rainy season here). snow_wizard
One thing I definitely remember about that event was from Everett northward in Western WA it was a very big deal. Places south just had some fairly chilly weather and light snowfalls. Quote Death To Warm Anomalies! There was a lot more snow in the hills. Our friends lived up about 1000' on Victor Point Road and had over 12". Stayton and Sublimity got slammed too. Timmy Supercell
That one I would have remembered. Especially if it delays or closes a school at the Beaverton SD. I remember going several winters without any notable event until Jan 2004.
