As someone pointed out in the comments section, this morning’s eruption spawned a gravity wave, which is evident in the cloud deck to the N/NE. That was a big league blast.

No doubt we have had a remarkable number of fairly dry cold fronts move through.  Just totally reminds me of the mid 1980s.

Great. Some of our driest years on record. I was looking at homes in the Carolinas today. **** this place.

I love Oregon, it’s a part of me. But at the same time, I’m holding onto something that no longer exists.

Good friend of the family is moving to Virginia...She just bought 30 acres with a fixer upper house on it for a very reasonable price apparently. Pictures look amazing that she shared with us.

They’re climate is warming to andrew. Although I get that it’s different seeing a less familiar climate warm than watching one you intimately know and love slowly wither and die.

Interestingly enough November has cooled here in the new averages, while the surrounding months of September, October, and December have the most warming of all other months.

However, late winter/early spring has barely warmed outside the urban I-95 corridor.

Yeah a lot more factors than just climate. Go to any city over 100,000 people on the West coast and be witness to total societal collapse...

Impressively cool day considering the amount of sunbreaks there have been this afternoon. High of just 47 so far.

Scattered showers with even some small hail at times, and chilly NW winds.

Fantastic day.  We've had a couple rounds of snow pellets here with puffy clouds drifting by.  Sitting at 48 right now.

Huh?

Cold 850s, low dew points, clear skies by tonight, light winds, coming off of chilly max temps today.  I think my statement was pretty accurate.

If you're referring to my overall jubilation lately it's because this is the perfect spring pattern in my book.  We have had numerous sharp cold fronts, and a number of record lows in the Western Lowland recently.

Not quite enough (yet) for substantial climate impacts, but if the eruptions continue like this for another 3-4 days, then it very well might.

The EPS control has us back into -PNA in time for the final week of April to be chilly.  Really pulling for 3 below normal months in a row.

Well, I’m not sure I’d refer to a destructive volcanic eruption a “decent situation”. But like all disasters, there are pros buried in the sea of cons.

Just a lovely 18Z run... through at least day 12 so far.

Snow pack is WAY above normal... rainfall is above normal for the year and water year... and it snowed here for the second time in 3 days.    Yeah... I am looking forward to the first warm spell of the year.

Getting more snow pellets here.  Just been light off and on stuff all day.

On another note I was just looking at dew points and almost all are below 28 in the Puget Sound area.  Amazingly Fort Lewis has a dp of 22 with brisk west winds.
