It’s pretty crazy to think about how insurmountable the new PDX averages seemed during a relatively cool summer of 2011 and the fresh-off-the-boat mid season average of 82/59.  Little did we know...🥰🥰🥰

I remember what a relief it was when global warming finally ended in 1998.

Next few summers were pretty chilly!!

And that doesn't necessarily mean we're entering another dust bowl era either.

Yeah... its going to be much harder for SEA to run above normal.    Its a cold anomaly lovers dream.   Just set the bar much lower and its all good!

Well, it's more that now about half of SEA's 30 years record (2005-2020) is affected by the land use changes and third runway.

All of the stations are obviously at least somewhat affected by the change from 1981-2010 to 1991-2020.

Is this accurate?   If so... that is a hell of a lot more than just UHI.

It's not the data I'm calling out. It's how information is presented or interpreted by a majority. And well, drive-by media has a way of getting a point across.

Pick any of the cities that are "getting wetter" - guaranteed over the course of a year they're still hotter than most of the western US by a wide margin. And getting 100 in PDX will still be hot for Portland.

Yeah... I know it's all sensationalism.

But I was just wondering if those maps are actually accurate or being skewed by CNN to look more dramatic.

I love cicadas. I hear out east they swarm in the thousands, but it's not that huge of a problem in Oregon ;)

I like the look of the models right now. 😁

That is evil.   The models are very dry for the PNW.

But the 18Z GFS is hilarious... bone dry across the whole region and a tiny sliver of wetter than normal right over King County.   😁
