By the third week of June its pretty D**n rare to get any regional systems, especially these days. Granted there's a chance of rain at times this week, but the way things have gone lately I would put a lot more stock in PDX hitting 90 next Monday than picking up more than .25" in the next five days. Ridging at day eight is a lot more dependable than rainfall at day two sadly. Lots of ridging in a warming world. Who would've thunked? We are in the middle of a stretch of 10-12 days that are colder than normal and most with rain and clouds... particularly in our area. Of course it was statistically due and this is typically how it works in May and June... but it still sort of sucks. I don't think there would be any complaints about some rain at times (even heavy rain) but its the persistent nature of the cold and wet that can get a little depressing this time of year. It happens almost every year up here. The weather gets streaky... both ways. And now we are about to be rewarded with streak of warm weather. Not sure what is hard to understand about that. Not everyone is laser focused on Oregon precip anomalies and thinks 55-degree drizzle is ideal warm season weather. TT-SEA
Here is a surprise... guess what region is still absolutely crushing it in terms of snow-water equivalent in late May? Water is not an issue up here at all. The drop off as you go south is pretty stark though. Nature has been cruel and Ninas can really suck in terms of spreading the wealth. Well that kinda puts things in perspective. I know the people around here are saying the snowpack in the mountains around here is the very low and the dam has been closed in an effort to refill lake Cascade. The middle fork Payette river should be raging with snowmelt right now instead of a sickly looking trickle. It's moving so slow that it's mostly just standing water with lots of pond scum along the river banks. It's a little concerning actually. Hopefully we'll be ok midsummer, the last 5 days have been pretty decently wet it seems like. Quote "Avoiding unwanted weather is a key element of happiness."
