Yes... we normally flip to sub-60 degree highs as we go into July and August.     They always say that summer ends here on July 5th.   Or is it start?    Can't remember.

A nice drive back on HWY 20 today.
Back home and it appears we have had some rain! My driveway had a small washout that happens when it rains very hard so I must have missed that...Darn.
According to my weather station we have had .90” so far on the week, 1.90” for the month, and 24.65” ytd.
Currently cloudy and 53.

Washington State Department of Transportation had an extensive scotch broom planting campaign in that era. It was the shrub of choice for stabilizing road banks. One reason it’s so widespread in Washington highway corridors today.

Ah that’s really interesting. I have always wondered why we see so many along the freeway.

I'm moreso speaking about the lack of cold anomalies. We had a legendary snow event in Feb, 2019 so that's not the issue at all. Has anywhere else in the PNW gone almost 1600 days since their last sub-freezing high?

Also, when people called this past winter's event up your way a "regional event" I was like...okay so what region are we in? Since we're clearly not part of the PNW according to that logic.

My sentiments exactly.  I felt with everyone 'snowed in' I had to double take what region I lived in. I guess Stayton is NOT the PNW by the logic of most on here!

Pulling the off-season night shift up late taking care of my wife who had to have emergency surgery a few hours ago. Total lunar eclipse underway. It's visible in the southern sky if you're lucky enough to not have clouds. Just about into the earth's shadow and the PacMan shape will start in about 15 mins.

Also the point of greatest eclipse will be at 4:20 AM so that works out pretty well.

Absolutely socked in with clouds here in Seattle, so we'll probably be waiting until May of next year to see a Lunar eclipse.

Glad you got your rain, too.

Would be interesting to see if there will be any lunar shadowbanding from the last bit of light emitted from the surface before going into totality.

Inflection/bifurcation point in tropical forcing denotes boundary for 1st of 2 western warm periods this month. Peak warmth June 4-7th as WPAC blossoms, then a (transient) cool down second week of June ahead of the next warm up.

Another ridge seems probable for mid-June, just before convection enters the IO/EHEM around the summer solstice, at which point a more consistent troughy pattern can emerge.

Earlier this Spring I kept getting several lows either within 1-2 degrees from previous records or matching, but haven't actually broken one until today. lol

I had an average low temp of 21.0 in March. Pretty chilly mornings I'd say this year.

Here’s a cool fact for you. The founder of great falls Montana...Paris Gibson is actually my great great grandfather. Still have quite a few relatives on my moms side living out in Montana. Haven’t been over there since I was like 7 though need to go back sometime soon.
