It seems like the majority of this group believes that the PNW only encompasses a an area from Tacoma to Bellingham and from the coast to the cascade crest.

Objectively, it has been a warm and historically dry spring for a large portion of the PNW.

That trend will continue at least through the middle of June. A day or two of troughing here and there doesn’t change that fact.

What are you calling me out for? 😂

Its been a little colder than normal up here for the last 3 months.    It has not been that cold... but it certainly has not been a warm spring.

I do think the troughs out there have had a more meridional flavor to them vs recent years. More GOA high overall.

But I suppose conditions on the surface are what matter.

Definitely.  The amount of cool, dry advection this spring has seemed pretty anomalous.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Funky pattern this week... this is only 72 hours out and both the GFS and ECMWF show the same thing.   Its a ULL party to the north.    Can't remember seeing 4 separate storms clustered so close together before.  Pretty sure they will all line up and take turns moving through WA state.

Staying with my cousin for a couple of days and it’s kinda funny…she and her husband like to sit outside in the evenings, but my cousin got cold and had to go put long pants and a sweatshirt on.  I pulled out my phone and checked the temp….65 LOL!!

Thankfully easing in to the hot weather, it won’t hit 80+ for another day or 2.

Not an easy pattern to simulate by any means.

Tbh I’m surprised at the degree of western troughing advertised by guidance attm. Intraseasonal forcings aren’t well suited for it at all. If this were 2018 we’d be staring down the barrel of a gargantuan western ridge.

Models are all over the place.

Nice improvements on the 00Z GFS though.     I am sure the next run will be totally different.

Same here. Tomorrow mid-70s, then low/mid 80s next week. Then probably hellish again by next weekend.

I’m still not sold on the deep troughing. I think it’ll be quick hitting with another cycle of ridging mid-June.

Am much more bullish on legitimate troughing starting around (or just after) the solstice, running into July. The tropical forcing and in-situ system state align almost perfectly for it.

BTW..it amazes me how this^^ pattern finds a way to flex the eastern ridge. That’s just sickening. It’s always something.

Sycan River Fire plume was pretty apparent on satellite earlier. Conditions over there aren't ideal for firefighting considering very dry fuels and vegetation, high temperatures, and no precipitation in sight.
