Hawkeye
The morning storms were all bark, no bite. There was some decent, streaky lightning across the north sky as the line moved in, but the convection was bubbly and only 0.04" of rain fell. 2 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"
bud2380
Just a few sprinkles here. The storms are falling apart right as they are moving into my area. We did get some thunder for the first time in a long time though.
westMJim
The overnight low here at my house was a cool 48. The official overnight low at GRR was 50. Not too far to the north at Cadillac the low dropped to at least 38 for a very chilly mid June night. At this time it is clear and 57 here.
james1976
I was awaken by a thunderstorm at 330am. Couldn't believe it. But only 0.03" of rain. More bark than bite for sure.

Hawkeye
The 12z HRRR keeps many of us capped tonight. OmahaSnowFan
So will the SPC be wrong or basically every CAM that shows pretty much no storms until after dark/near the Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin borders. I smell a huge bust.

bud2380
Models aren't looking too great. DVN just tweeted that the weather balloon data showed an extensive cap over the area as well. Storm development does not look very likely in eastern Iowa. But maybe we'll get lucky.

Stormy
To much capping around here for now, but I’m surprised storms are already going in northern Iowa. Was the HRRR showing it this soon? I noticed some clouds trying to get going to my west and there’s even a weak shower sw. now. Probably all it will do for now. My brother around 7 miles se. got 0.20” this morning.

For those of us further south, we have to hope it grows into a full fledged MCS and does the classic back building with the south and even southwestern expansion.

Hawkeye
The Euro had 100+º surging up into Iowa today for at least the last week, so kudos to the Euro. My area has managed to remain a bit lower this afternoon, only reaching the low 90s. The heat index in Cedar Rapids is only 94º, which really isn't that bad. The humidity is only moderate and there is a nice breeze, too. The northern Iowa storms are looking rather meager at the moment, probably struggling with the cap. 2 Quote season snowfall: 34.8" '22-23: 30.2" '21-22: 27.1" '20-21: 52.5" '19-20: 36.2" '18-19: 50.2" '17-18: 39.5" Average snowfall: ~30"
