What source (Environment Canada says 45˚C aka 113˚F)? And what is that source forecasting for Lytton, which is usually a little hotter?

Was using TWC. TWC shows 117 in Lytton

I'm not entirely convinced that - starting from 65-70 degrees - with full June sunshine - with light winds - under 30C 850mb temps - the Puget Sound region is just going to have an ordinary hot day tomorrow.  It seems unfortunately like there might be a few 100+ surprises.

I never really had it.* My youngest sister did, bad. She was always yelling for her big brother to evict another insect from her room.

 * Well, I was never a big fan of giant desert centipedes. But those guys are venomous, and they are not insects. I remember the time I woke up my siblings trying to kill one that had crawled behind a map I had tacked to the wall by hitting the map with a shoe.

It's called clown range for a reason.

I don't think it's uncommon to find a day or two PDX records a hotter day than the southern US. I remember that in May 2008, Phoenix was like 90 while Portland was a handful degrees hotter. Surely enough; less than one week later PHX was 110.

I bet they're 118 after this and we go back to 90 pretty soon.

Hard to imagine with what will be moderate onshore gradients, although at this point there isn’t much that’s off the table with this event.

Holy crap!  Shelton dropped 43 degrees in 4 hours.  Now that is spectacular.  The marine push is holding together better than I expected as it moves inland.  Meanwhile poor SEA is still quite hot.

115 here at 5pm all the way down to 68 now.

I think 51-52 is the biggest diurnal range that I can remember witnessing on the westside, and that was over the course of about 12 hours.

The 28 degree drop in an hour at Forks has to be a something…

No doubt this is an event we will never forget.  Really quite something.  One thing for sure is I'm happy the heat is over...at least mostly over.

I think it was proven that our climatological rubber band can stretch further than we thought.  Maybe it can also stretch as far the other direction this December*!!!

You can tell me all about negativity the next time there’s a little drizzle at your place. 😣😖😫💩

Objectively it's the most historic weather event in most of our lifetimes.

It sure seems like this marine push has more punch than the local mets and models are giving it credit for.

It's a fairly affluent and isolated community, thankfully. I'm sure a good portion of them do.

Fingers crossed.

Dews in the 80s with no A/C will kill vulnerable people.

SEA just dropped 9 degrees in 40 minutes.  This is pretty neat to watch.

Oh Jesse. I think you should go to eastern Washington for a few days to clear your head. Pasco is lovely this time of the year.

Looks like SEA spiked to 108 for their high.  I had an evening spike to 109.  Numbers that will probably stand for decades.

Sure hope so. Now if we can only get the other extreme! Will really make a huge difference in how I feel about our changing climate.
