Got to the 480's here on the 12th. It was interesting too because it wasn't consistent. On the 10th we were under 20, then we just spiked up just the next day. For years we topped around 300 before that event. Briefly on PurpleAir we went over 500. But some people question their accuracy.

All I know is the air quality was horrific.  I wore an N-95 outside and it actually got a bit sooty.

i'm assuming you're talking about the B and B Complex Fire..."it's still a big field of dead sticks".  from the highway, yes, but the abundance of new vegetation is incredible.  it's flourishing.

I’m off to OSU this fall so hopefully I’ll get to go up that way pretty often. Hoodoo/Santiam Pass is the closest skiing to Corvallis. Checking Google Maps Corvallis - Santiam Pass is 1:50 and Corvallis - Sisters is 2:10 (assuming you do not get screwed by traffic going into Sisters, like I did on the way here).

I also won’t be far from the Mckenzie and Umpqua rivers. Sounds like a great location for an outdoors enthusiast.

16 days of 90+ and three days of 105+ by July 10 at Salem seems pretty normal....luckily only managed one 117 degree reading there so not too bad.

Never said it was normal.

But outside of the heatwave, this summer has indeed been pretty close to normal most places.

Normal includes some hot days.

We're due for snowy Decembers again. I don't mind if it's not cold; at least something above average for snow between turkey day and New Years happened quite a few times in the first half of the 2010's.

I almost feel like we're paying for December 2016 or something. Top to bottom, that was a great winter.

I'm hoping December getting less cold means January might make a comeback.  Our cold Januaries stopped right when all of those cold Decembers began.  Pretty surprising how February has turned into the cold month all of the sudden though.

December has been the bread winner. January has been a steaming turd most years. I'm more than satisfied with the performance of February. No complaints there. I would like to see a record low in January. Spokane hasn't recorded one in January since 1979. 2004 was really close.

Places north had more snow in that one. I was exactly average with 11-12" snowfall that month.

I'm paying for Dec 2015 with a whopping 33.1". ;)

That’s one heck of a CCKW. Transits the Atlantic then back into the W-IO during the 3rd week of July.

Second IO pulse would follow in early August. If this is accurate, then it’s almost three weeks later/slower than I thought just a month ago. Ugly, ugly miss on my part. 😳

I lived over in Coeur d'Alene during 2015. Christmas 2015 was like a Norman Rockwell holiday painting. Funny enough, 2015 was a Super Niño.

I was with my brother that entire month in Wilsonville, while we were measuring rain in feet in the Portland metro, it snowed for 3 weeks straight back home here. That was the month my shed collapsed. Finally got rid of the darn thing recently. Old metal one too, had to hire someone to haul it.

I guess it was just the correct setup where atmospheric rivers were mountain snow producers. It's actually not hard for an AR to rain in K-Falls in the winter.

Crater Lake NP's record snowiest December was 2015 (used to be 1948).

Average high first 10 days of July 2021 is 94, was 89 first 10 days in 2015. Toasty!

My normal avg high is 84 in July. But that's based off 1981-2010.

When I moved to K-Falls in Dec 2010. I was surprised how we alternated from snow one week to heavy rain another week. It did this each month yet still ended up with over 60". This is why depth is rarely over a foot here. My first two winters I had nothing higher than 9" on the ruler until 2015 and of course January 2017 when 18.4" fell in one day.

Precip is pretty limited at your location. Places at a similar elevation on the north end of the lake (Chiloquin) probably see a lot more snow.

Lol, full CCKW orbit and right back where we started in 2 weeks.

Instead of PNW, it’s probably the plains or east that roasts in August if this is anywhere near accurate.

The lack of marine influence in the Willamette Valley where it's always a little harder to come by in midsummer is a testament to the warmth of the ongoing pattern.

Been warm here as well but there's a noticeable latitudinal gradient most days, even sharper than normal. Today has hit 92 in Salem, 89 in Aurora, 87 in Portland, 86 in Vancouver, and 77 in Kelso so far.
