July 2021 PNW Weather Discussion

12Z EPS... not much in the way of troughing or ridging.   That should be effective at keeping the smoke moving east and keeping the heat away and making for perfect summer temps.  Goldilocks weather.   👍

Mon-Fri looks gorgeous west of the WA Cascades on the 12z. Highs in the 70s and plenty of intermittent marine cloudcover. Near perfect summer weather.

Willamette Valley continues to bake, unfortunately.

Since I looked up the current solar cycle on Google... my facebook feed now includes solar news from NASA.

I see that there was a major solar flare recently and the sun is getting active again.    You wouldn't know that here because the sun is only mentioned when its dead quiet.   👍

Third day in a row of sub-70 weather.  Today topped out at 65F, now down to 64F.  Just wishing for some rain and moisture.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and enjoys this traditional PNW summer weather.  It's lovely.

I hope our friends on the eastside of our respective states are able to enjoy cooler weather too and the smoke dissipates.  Wishing our firefighters the best as well.

It was a nice day to buy a boat in Renton and sit in traffic all the way back north! It’s time to move on from the 1980’s Bayliner and move on up to a 1990’s Sea Ray! Luckily it also has a cassette deck in it so I can continue to rock my MC Hammer cassette on the water!

Currently in the north Puget Sound in an area with constantly cool sea breeze.

That is so chilly... you could probably go a mile inland and it's 10 degrees warmer.

Yeah I saw your pics.  I haven’t done that one but it looks like a nice hike. Proximity to the Kitsap peninsula is one of the great things about Tacoma.

Nice and congrats with the boat! Nothing better than to sit in a Puget Sound traffic. You see something new everyday around here with the traffic around here! Yesterday I was stuck in traffic on 405 at Renton/Newcastle  for about 10 minutes because a piglet decided its had enough with the owner and jumped out the window of a car and ran down the freeway in opposite direction. It was actually a cute black piglet!

Long time no talk everyone.

This has to be the lamest thunderstorm season over here in a while.  Nothing to talk about at all in June/July. August better deliver the goods.

That being said, my brother and I have had some heated discussions about what this winter will bring...analogs, trends, patterns, etc...

I think this may be the big one this coming winter.........I hope nobody here lives in an RV in Fairview this winter.  You may want to build a wall in front of it.

I did a quick look (I don't know the temps earlier in the day) but I did check inland.  It is currently 60F at 8:24pm at my current location.  Ten miles eastward and inland from my current spot 62F.  Going much further inland to Monroe, Washington, it is 64F.  So yeah, it probably was in the 70s inland.

Yeah... this is not a good time to check.   This afternoon it was 77 at WFO SEA and SEA.    Safe to say it was in the mid to upper 70s across most of Seattle.    You could probably walk away from the water and gain 4 or 5 degrees in a few minutes.   It was close to 80 on the east side of Seattle.

No such issues with lakes... it will be 80 tomorrow when we are on Lake Sammamish.  👍

Our sunset was at 8:41 pm. We're at roughly the same latitude but farther east. The sun comes up earlier here, but it goes down earlier.

Nome’s sunrise is about the same as Seattle, but it won’t set again until mid 1am. Roughly 4h30m of darkness.
