So if we see literally anything other than a stagnant, sprawling 4CH centered to our east and weak onshore flow west of the Cascades in the next few weeks you will call it a forecasting win. Alaska Lady
On 7/6/2021 at 8:51 PM, TacomaWaWx said: I know that the scale of the fires up here isn’t near what happened down there in September…but that fire in Bonney lake was pretty crazy to see. On top of what happened in Oregon it’s just crazy to see these things happening. We had a drought one year that hurt our spruce forests. That encouraged spruce beetles, which proved too much for spruce trees and killed them. Then we got lightning fires. That lost us close to 6 million acres of forests. Our sea ice is also retreating, which is really hard on polar bears. Alaskan natives have been seeing polar bears swimming out at sea where it will be too far for them to avoid drowning. The polar bears don’t have enough territory on land for all the ones displaced from sea ice territories. They are crowding into villages looking for food. It gets depressing hearing climate change deniers. I can’t imagine what it will take to convince anybody who has missed what is happening around us already. Since climate change effects are going to keep getting worse, at some point it ought to get through to them. I fear it will be too late to stop climate change by then.
